Looks like it could be bad weather for the Jets-Fins. I am in Fair Lawn NJ and the weather reports say we might get 1-3 inches of snow(possible) Friday night into Saturday morning but then rain on Saturday afternoon into the night. It's going to be messy out there if this is true.

looking like a real mess of a weekend coming up, snow for everyone saturday morning switching to rain in the afternoon through sunday then north and west of nyc switching back to ice and snow. snow fall could get to 3-5" before the change for some.

IT would appear that NYC has a shot at over 4 inches of snow Saturday,,,,,more N + W,,,,,what says my weather buddies ?
thIS could be some fast heavy snow and it might get out of dodge before the warm air hits,,,,that would be good snow man making snow.

I am flying back home on Saturday. Landing at Newark at 3 pm. Do you think there is any risk of not landing?

Brook, only 2-3" inches on Friday night-early Saturday then turning over to all rain late in the morning, hours before you land. You should have smooth sailing..

still days away,,,,BUT,,,,,,theres a good chance that before the warm air gets here that this stays ALL snow. I think it will be a quick thumper dropping a lot of snow quick,,,,,,,and on Sunday it melts but this could surprise some people maybe Im mistaken but me thinks not

going put on a limb C? ithink this thing is late getting here. snow early saturday morning before the change over late in the afternoon.also back to snow on the backside sunday afternoon.

@Brook! plan on being delayed some, if nothing else because they get backlogged from the morning precip.

tomorrow is going to be brutal, single digit wind chills, gale force wind gusts. just brutal

Just guesstimating we will see how it plays out but Models are in much agreement this afternoon unless I'm reading this wrong,,,lol ps after last year I will take any snow we can get even if its gone on Sunday

this is the 18z gfs for o6 saturday 12/17, the 12z euro has the low in the same place. the next panel 12 saturday 12/17 covers the entire tri state in blue. so figure snow arriving around 8-10am.

this 18 saturday 12/17 (6pm) 12z euro still agrees where the low is. warm air arrives turning jersey and nyc to rain. north and west still snow, 10 hrs of snow so far but the snow rate will only yield 4" or so. some ice forming for @Cman60 in pa. but everything jersey may have gotten is done and washing away at this point

06 sun 12/18 nd the low is due north but the warm air has won out. but there is another burst of snow on the back end. just enough to make the monday commute and interesting proposition. i'm buying into this right now. gfs has been pretty good so far and the euro is pretty much in agreement.

I'm thinking 6-8 hrs of snow before the change over. everyone is going to wake up to snow on the ground. change over around noon with some mixing before it all turns to rain. temps go up big time sunday killing our white Christmas hopes. some smaller chances during the week but the temps just won't cooperate

FJAYF,,,,,u might want to check out models and latest,,,,,,geeks on other sites are saying cold air hangs on for a longer period and that snow amounts could be up slightly but the bad news is the all are saying prolonged period of ice / freezing rain,,,,god I hate the ice,,,be safe all

warm temps C, but yea the 26th an upper level low will bring precip. maybe it can bring cold temps but the models have it too warm right now.
this thread was started by the boxing day storm 2010. what a monster that was. i would sign up for that again.
new years eve maybe something small, then the way out gfs has something bigger for the 4th/5th. keep an eye on that one with fingers crossed.
