I think we need the low to go further out to sea in order to see snow. If it tracks inland, or by the coast we will just get a ton of rain. Fingers crossed.
Exactly. With the western trends all season that is going to be a problem. Of course the other problem is it drifts to far east and drops a bunch of snow on l.i. only. My money is on a rain event with some mixing at night.
quick updates on the model runs today, 18z gfs came a little colder and a little snowier. 12z euro cam farther east, almost to far and much colder. just watched a video of a meteorologist bernie rayno from accuweather, claims the cold air won't be an issue. leaning towards an all snow event. made alot of sense. so at this point i'd say expect some sort of precip for the tri state area wednesday p.m. into thursday a.m. also euro put a few inches on the ground sunday night into monday. not sure about that but figured i would put it out there. for now we will keep watching the models. sunday will be the big day

Total disagreement between models on whats happening this week. Sunday/Monday euro shows south Jersey with a small snow event, gfs puts it in buffalo and the nam puts it in nyc. With a 4-6 for city and surrounding areas. @CBG , that includes us. Still watching the midweek but models all over the place there too. This afternoon will be a big run for the euro
FJF ,,we have seen this movie before,,,models will probably still disagree 24 hours before these events,,,,crazy stuff. Btw looks like we could even get a dusting of snow tonight,,,,,,stay focused FJF ,,lol maybe one of these things eventually hits hard and actually gives you snow up north
18z gfs and 12z euro gives big rains to all. not a good day if you are hoping for snow. sunday/monday event looks warm also. gfs has been so different from run to run it is laughable.

FJF ,,,,unreal how disappointing this winter has been to snow lovers . Its not as if the systems were not there but the timing and the paths were just not in the cards . Never mind these computer models being all over the place run to run,,,,,,Brook its not to late and anything can happen but the Monday and Wednesday events look like rain if they hit us at all, I mean geeks on the other sites say this thing shifts so far inland it hits Detroit or Chicago,,,,simply amazing. I'm never ready to throw in the towel but I am so damn close,,,,I will start looking at fertilizer and grass seed real soon!
Just couldn't happen this year. But right now i am in Binghamton its 60 and the bmx track us packed. I will take this as a consolation prize

i looked at that after you posted. a few models were showing 2 lows earlier in the week too. not buying it. weather geeks seem to think thats an improbable scenario. i think the models are just trolling everyone. once people give up on a storm they give a new run to suck them back in,lol.

lol, take a look at the models for the first time today. 12z gfs snow total map has the lower hudson valley for 18" ny next thursday, 18z gfs snow total map has the lower hudson valley for 0" by next thursday. meteorologists are earning it this year
