mondays tricky for timing. nam has snow starting earlier than the other models. albany issued a winter weather advisory for my area, sayin up to 4" followed by sleet before turning to all liquid. i think we start seeing flakes around 4pm. either way, its a complete washout for tuesday, the earlier the cold air moves out, probably the better for everyone.
winter weather advisories going up throughout the tri state area. when the precip starts falling the roads are going to get slick fast.
My daughter is in Niskayuna and will be driving to Bergen County this afternoon/early this evening. How bad is it going to be? Should she leave now? _
wheres Niskayuna? snow is starting in south jersey now, by 1 it will be all of jersey. roads are completely frozen so everything is going to stick. the longer anyone waits the worse it is
FJF ,,,weather geeks all over the place with these totals,,,no one is certain what will fall and where, some serious " now casting " will be going on. Make no mistake that over night and tomorrow it pours rain but today is going to be some tricky and possibly treacherous travel. If I was anywhere RIGHT NOW I would start heading to wherever I need to be later because later could be a white knuckler !
@CBG i feel like people are sleeping on the front end of this, yea it is going to feel like april tomorrow, but right now its bone chilling cold and there is precip heading our way. we have a long way to go before the roads are just wet. i'm betting on school delays in the a.m. along with traffic problems for the a.m. commute.
Moderate snow in York PA. Streets covering quickly. Anybody that can leave now for a long drive? Do it!
Luckily many schools are off this week for mid winter recess ,,,,,,and maybe by the a m its wet but Its pretty damn cold out so whatever does fall is going to stick and it will take a while for the ground to thaw even when this changes to rain,,,,,time will tell
PennDot laying out Brine and Salt. Plowable snow already on the ground. Should all turn to rain by tomorrow. Hopefully...
Snowing in Bethel right now and 21 degrees. Nasty roads. Weather.com says it is going up to 33 by 8 pm and moving to a wintry mix of rain and snow. Not below freezing after that and then tomorrow up to 53 and raining all day. Hopefully morning commute will be ok. Rain and 6 to 8 degrees above freezing should keep people safe if the rain is not too heavy. Would be nice to get rid of some of the accumulated snow also. Might get some flooding in low-lying areas if it rains all day given the snow already on the ground and ready to melt.
