lol. just looking at the nam. long island gets slammed with the A storm and than a wide spread 4-8" for everyone . waiting on the gfs to come out. if i track this storm all weekend and don't get any snow i may quit
so 18z gfs keeps the A way off shore. the B comes across south and than slides up the coast, weaker system giving 24 hrs of snow that will only total 4-8" with the higher totals on long island. this would start tuesday afternoon. pretty much if you are on l.i. plan on being inconvenienced at best early this week.
Things can still change trends trends trends,,,,west all winter,,let's see what happens,,good job fjf
FJF ,,,,,this is a tough one,,,,,,weather geeks on the other ite actually got into a bickering match over this storm,,,,,,,,but I stray,,,,,,,,am I crazy or is this thing still too Far East because it appears to be coming more west,,,,,? Still time for it to move more I guess ,,no ?
Man still moving west,,,,Long Island get the shovels out,,,,NYC in the game,,,,me on the fringe,,FJF outside looking in,,,right now,,,need this thing to shift west some more,,,,am I wrong FJF
yea long island is a lock for 6+ conservatively i think, especially the eastern half. everyone else, i have no idea. its going to snow. maybe a few inches, maybe 6-8. i can not get this locked down at all. the A looks like it is coming west and most of us should see some snow from that first wave monday p.m. through tuesday p.m. then the B will come through bringing more snow on wednesday. but not as much, cman might see a few inches on that wednesday system. man this one is a mess. lets just watch and see.
Bethel has about 2-3 inches at this point with 2-3 more forecast for the evening. Snow flurries will not stop until 4am or so. It's below freezing at 26F and the roads are a slushy mess that is only kept from freezing by all the traffic from early departures from work/school. The commute is going to be a nightmare for people who aren't already on the road. Overnight temperatures will be in the low 20's and the morning commute will be icy. This storm definitely caught us by surprise. Was 80% chance of 1-3 inches last night and snow ending by 6pm tonight and instead we will get more like 4-6 inches with snow extending into the early AM. If you're in Northwestern Connecticut drive carefully tonight. Most of the traffic was doing about 30 mph on roads that were marked 45.
Based on what they were predicting and what actually happened it sounds like the storm either tracked farther south on it's way across the country or that it widened significantly along the way.
this was a coastal low. tracked farther west than the models showed. should be clearing out for you in the next few hours. up next, and first at casa de cman, is the upper level low miller B that made this week so difficult to forecast. that was the best bet for snows inland. if cman gets 4-6 than you shouldn't get that nuch more than you have now. that system is modeled to stay south. jersey will win that one
Weather geeks kept saying that this storm could stay out east over the ocean,,,it came somewhat west but did not impact the 5 boroughs as it could have. Storm was a monster but centered more out to sea,,,,they were talking about this inverted trough that they expected to setup tomorrow but seems no one knew exactly where it was going to setup as it just is not predictable. I guess the computers are now getting a handle on this as some models are saying that a storm is going to form and it might just impact us,,,,,,,,Cman did they give you a start time ?
No snow in Atlantic County please. Looks like the western half of the county is supposed to get a bunch while my half not so much.
these are going to be more sporadic bands. very intermitten. doubt you see much if anything over nite.
all these bands seem to back fill over p.a. @Cman60 , gas up the ariens, i think you will be using it in the moning.
Should be ready. I might be able to get by with my lil Troybuilt. Easier to work with but anything over 6", fuggeddaboutit..
