Tonight's shoveling wasn't so bad. I got from my house to the sidewalk with the shovel, when my good neighbor came out with his self propelled, 24" Craftsman, 208 cc, 6.5 hp, heavy duty snowblower, with zero turn steering and 2-way chute control. Nice piece of machinery. He did the rough cleaning, and I followed with the shovel, doing the trim work. We did his house, mine, and our elderly neighbors across the street. Then my evil neighbor came out. I'm pretty sure he's going to throw all of his snow onto my property, as usual.
The bright side of being in the miss zone, i just spent a nice lazy day with the fam. No work, nothing to clear at home. Just a day with nothing to do and no where to go. A couple more hours of snow for just about everyone. But the intense stuff is over. Everyone be careful cleaning up, get it done early temps will be heading up. Snow will only get heavier
Thank you for doing a great job keeping everyone informed on the snow. You hit it on the head about Fair Lawn,NJ we did get around 20. Anyway going to get up early and get it cleared away then hopefully Denver kicks NE's ass. As for the other game I just hope its a good game and may the best team win.
Looks a lot like my Ariens.. Snowblowers will turn out to be one of the great inventions of the 20th century...
Damn plows piled up a 6ft. wall of snow in front of my driveway. Got my work cut out for me tomorrow.
Yeah, I not sure who manufactures these. Sears sources a lot of stuff, and slaps the Sears or Craftsman name plate on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they both came from the same place.
That happened on my street this morning. I looked out the window, after I finished shovelling, only to see the plows race up my street in tandem, throwing a plume of snow about 10 feet in the air. They totally swamped the little channel I had carved out. Thankfully, I didn't bother wasting any energy digging out the mouth of the driveway.
Madison NJ - I measured 12" at 11AM. I measured 24" at 4PM It stopped snowing roughly an hour ago. I believe we're around 30. Will update in AM.
"NWS New York NY@NWSNewYorkNY3m3 minutes ago Central Park storm total snow accumulation as of midnight was 26.8 inches. That makes this the second largest snowstorm since 1869 in NYC." Like this
My wife is supposed to drive back to Rhode Island today. Roads are frozen over right now though the sun is up so hopefully it melts. I'm sure the Parkway and 95 are clear at this point.
things will start warming up this week. a lot of what fell will disappear, 50f next sunday. pretty clear weather for the next week and a half. will keep an eye on next wednesday, but i think the temps will be to warm.
Well I can't complain. Got about 8 inches which is more than manageable and the Springsteen show is postponed so I can watch football today and go to show whenever it's rescheduled for. Worked out Pretty good. I'm glad all u weather geeks got to jerk off in the snow for a bit. Happy Sunday. Go Broncos!
That's really an unbelievable statistic. It seems that we would have had a *lot* of storms that dumped more than this. I guess it's true that memory and perception don't always line up with the facts.
I finished up at 25", but it's funny how the wind whipped things around. I had nothing at all on my front stoop. Nothing. But on the shed roof over my kitchen and porch, there is well over 2 feet. I'm not happy about all of that weight sitting up there. I am trying to figure out a safe way to knock some of that down. I don't have a roof rake. That would be the right thing to use.
my back may never recover did my driveway, some sidewalk, some walkway went to help someone a few blocks away, did their porch on the way two young women were struggling and I offered to help turns out they had a corner house and wanted the whole sidewalk from the driveway to the corner done too late to say no did that on the way back a dude got his BMW stuck twice and I helped shovel him out both times two feet of snow and it was very hard to get there and back, had to get through a lot of snow drifts all told, almost two hours of shoveling
