its all about temps. They are lowering totals not because the storm is less powerful..they are going by what will take..and its totally understandable. Totally. Just think that once this thing gets cranking, the 1 to 2" per hour will take....for most areas. WEST of N.J Turnpike and north of i84 in CT. Tough call...we shall see cbg!!
By 4pm things should be rockin..the big question is will they be rockin at 1pm..if so...that will be a problem for millions of travelers.
Ok let the games begin,,,,,,,I'm out of the house and starting my day. It is 44 degrees here right now lets see what today brings. Be safe all . I am sure many people will be checking this thread and making phone calls checking on whats going on,,,,I will be one of them ?
41 right now, temps held all night. heavy cloud cover and a stiff breeze. i ill be in this for the duration of the storm. good luck and safe travels everyone.
and your temps and FJF's temps are the key...the temps bottomed out in PA and then that was it..and now much make up to do. This is the first sign that maybe areas east might get the lower amounts on the accum board. Could be...but need to see what temps do in the next 4 hours. That will be the key.
Awesome site Jay. Where are the google ads? I saw them a while ago and clicked them but don't see them now.
Working out something else right now...but those I have no control over. Wordpress puts them up and down..but that's fine...you will see a major change in about a week. Thanks bud!
Grounds is starting to cover, roads are wet but not sticking.Snow falling at a pretty good rate right now
and the cold air is here..this should be VERY interesting..temps at freezing here already...this was NOT supposed to happen. The heavy stuff is still a few hours away and there is a base...not good.
CBG checking in what do you mean it was not supposed to happen? You said it would happen or you said it could happen!I was in Manhattan snowing and raining there all wet I am in Brooklyn now 37 degrees snowing and raining here I am told Rockland County is white that includes grassy surfaces and road surfaces can't wait to white knuckle it home
Roads covered quick, main roads still ok due to brine treatment last nite. Untreated roads not so much. probably 3/4" so far and falling fast. cbg, get home safe
Fjf. are you telling me we have an interest so by my house already can't wait to see if my sled and my dog team make it home lol
Meant the early temps dropping so fast..which is providing the early coat of snow. This will form the base for the heavier snow in the next 3 hours. Instead of fighting to stick when it gets heavy...it will stick from the get go. Which means higher numbers CBG. Just posted an update and here is the bottom line. If your area is WEST of I95 and was predicted to get 4 to 8" of snow..you will probably get closer to 8 and some areas will exceed their top number. Hope that makes sense CBG!! 34F in Bethel as of 11:44AM. Snow is falling and sticking in a clumpy, wet way. Ground cover is all slush with a white frosting on the top. I wiped off my car about an hour ago and went to get some supplies at the store. 30 minutes later it had the same clumpy covering I took off it. I'm guessing we're talking close to an inch an hour at this point. Weather.com says it's going up to 35 and raining at about 4PM and then after a few hours of that the temperature is going to dive into the mid-20's and it will snow until early in the morning. Wet, mess.
