Jay, FLA Is it too early to ask about how this winter looks? Last winter was too much so I really won't mind a quiet winter to be honest.
What happened FJF is that triple point feature setup was right around NYC...so areas north and east...dont tell Long Island it fell apart....man...some towns got over 14 inches of rain in less then 5 hours. Brutal. Here..by me...heavy rain for about 4 hours and maybe 3 inches of rain...it was all over the board numbers wise.
Brook..it will be an El Nino Winter..which now it depends will it be a strong one or a weak one....if you want less snow root for a strong one which would keep storms suppressed to our south. Weaker El Ninio winters have been some of the worst on record..so...long term right now looks colder then normal...thats a lock right now...but drier? Tough call and it will all depend on how cool temps in the Pacific off the coast of Mexico remain...the colder the drier but I wouldnt hold my breath on that. Trends say the volatility continues....and I too would love a nice peaceful winter with lets say 3 big storms...surrounded by great warm dry winter weather.
good stuuf jay. yeah poor long island. i have seen rain like that in fla before. its insane how fast it piles up making roads into rivers. up here we barely got anything. its raining now though, when TWC gave it a 10% chance. funny how that happens. hey brook, i am glad jay answered your question. i am nowhere near qualified to answer that.........yet. sign me up for mild winter. give me 1 good storm before christmas and than just enough snow to keep the ground covered until march
Well I don't want " stupid" cold weather but sign me up for " oceans of snow " always loved it and still do ! When and if I ever get sick of it I will move to Florida !
fjf..stop selling yourself short bud...you are very very good at this. If I was not around for a week in the winter, would not be missed with the job you do. Looking forward to the help this year!!
This really has been a summer for the record books. While just a few overnight low records have been set, my guess is that when this summer is over, the overall temp average will be the lowest in the top 5 over the past 50 years. Its amazing how we haven't even come close to the century mark let alone heat spells. Usually with trends like that, you have reasons like a very wet summer but that's even below normal. The only reason is the jet stream goes from the west coast straight up to Canada and then usually sits up there...but instead has dipped down through the center of the country and stayed about a thousand miles south of where it usually sets up..and nothing shows a break in that pattern in the near future. Everytime the heat builds up in the south and heads north, its squashed in less then 24 hours by reinforcing cold fronts. Unheard of for this time of the year. Enjoy..enjoy enjoy.
The perfect weather for me too CBG....would be above normal temps...beautiful weather...surrounded by oh...lets say 3 or 4 major snowstorms. Or even 2 record breakers and nothing else. Not asking for much!
and the weather just keeps giving..check out this weekend for north jersey...nyc...conn..well almost all of the mid atlantic and northeast...check out the temps too. Incredible: Friday Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
Screw you. I'd take the rain you guys were getting over the weather you are now bragging about. In a minute.
Just the opposite, jay. This summer has better wetter than the previous 2 years, but not nearly enough. San Antonio just entered stage 4 water restrictions for the first time in history due to drought.
Hey ED...All signs pointing to an incredible weekend for the entire East coast north of Florida..to the Mississippi River. Here is your local forecast sir: Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Saturday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
You guys will begin to get makeup rain in the fall...and big time makeup in the spring. Its coming...the changing of the trends has begun albeit slowly...and the dip in the jetstream will eventually give you the rain needed to begin the make up. Its coming bud.
