So I should go out of my office at lunch today, take my shirt off and bask in the 50 degree weather I'm not likely to see again for a while. Great... just great... As if the snow wasn't bad enough. It now comes with low level traces of radiation to boot! :breakdance:
This storm is going to SUCK. We'll get a ton of snow... and then no doubt it will warm up over the weekend and melt it all and it will be a freakin' mess. I hate spring in Maine.
Really tough to say but looking at the message board of those I really respect...and the latest models...northwest nj is going to get hit the hardest...the rest of north jersey is such a toss up. If this storm happened in Jan or Feb...easy call...over a foot. This time of the year there are too many things that go against that happening. Closer to the coast seems an easier forecast of mostly rain mixed with snow. 30 miles off the coast..say north of rt 287..thats where the elevation and colder temps become a huge factor this time of year. Will get a better read by late tonite.
I drove through a thundernado today. It was unpleasant. I was coming from Oneida Lake toward Syracuse and was detoured twice because of downed trees blocking the road. Lots of buildings lost tin roofs, boats flipped and rolled across lawns. People were driving on I-81 like it was a school zone.
Here's a question for those of you who live or know someone who lives in an area prone to twisters. If, much like today, the weather-gurus are calling for terrible storms in a very specific area, do schools automatically suspend classes, just as we do here in the NE following "snow events?"
Need to bump this since I think Jay has a better track record than most of the weather guys on TV. Just wondering if you took a look at T.S. Irene and if you think it is going to push to the east or west. Moved my son off to college in Orlando on Friday and the track shows it going straight up that way. I'm sure they'll just make a party out of it but just curious your thoughts. I was hoping it would come up the west coast, I have a few trees I have been waiting to take down and it could save me some work.
It's barely tracking to be a Cat 1 if it hits the peninsula. By the time it hits Orlando it'll be a rain event if it even gets there.
^I was out getting a Publix sub today...fucking retards are buying water/cans/supplies for a possible category ONE Irene if it does hit is... Channel 7 down here hypes up the weakest storms...
Current forecast is about 60 mph winds when it gets up to the Orlando area. The GFDL model has it up to 101 MPH winds off the west coast a little south of Sarasota on Friday so it could be a little more than a rain event. I don't worry for myself but when I have one kid in Orlando, one in Bradenton and one in Pinellas then I want to know where it might head.
And the retards that don't prepare by having supplies on hand will be bitching when they have to pay $5 for a bottle of water.
They have us prepping at work for a hit... had to charge up the sat phones... at most this thing will be a cat 1 if it hits at all
