very cold air comes in after the storm on wednesday brook and sticks around all weekend so my guess is upper 30's temps..let me check the long range now..one second.
Next Sunday...partly sunny..high near 40. So cold temps but nothing earth shattering. Storm for this week has a general consensus. The inland track will prevail and only Cman has a CHANCE at some front end snow and perhaps back end snow after the storm pulls away. So damn close. We got the storm right...but we could not pull off the temps. Future still shows a storm around the 4th of December..and then around the 9th of December. My guess it the chance that we will have white stuff on the ground for Christmas day is over 80 percent. I feel very confident in the pattern before Christmas that something will happen...very confident.
very very possible GG...too much going to happen the next 30 days not to think so. I have been watching local weather and have not seen much talked about in a few things that will happen with the current storm about to hit us..in fact 2 things. 1. When the storm first starts tomorrow afternoon for us, it may start as a period of snow, sleet or freezing rain and last until late evening before it turns to rain around 8 or 9 pm. Could be a bit difficult rush hour home tomorrow evening for some. 2. The rain and wind on Wednesday will cause some problems. The rain..perhaps up to 4 inches..and not less than 2..will cause flooding in some areas. Also, the wind with gusts near 50..and sustained winds over 25. This is a pretty powerful storm and after it is over...will usher in more very cold air. Just a heads up.
Jay,,let us know if I should worry about freezin rain or sleet here,,,,,,,,I am heading to pick up family and then drive back North in the afternoon,,,,,you have a time fame and type of precip ? all rain ? lwt us know if u can thanks
Right now, its looking like around noon CBG and even though the latest models are showing the temps at or around freezing until around 8pm, they do not take into account the sun behind the clouds. I really do not believe it will be terrible on the roads as far as freezing rain goes..but if its mostly snow and sleet..different story. If you are heading to the airports..guessing newark or east? You should be fine. EDIT..NO AIRPORTS..YOU ARE DRIVING..SEE THE POST BELOW.
I just checked the latest models CBG and at 5pm..it basically still shows almost all areas at 32 or below until 8pm..with that said...you might want to keep an eye on things and get a head start to where you are going..and with freezing rain..things might be much more slick than whats being said on tv.
I've got this bad Thunder Snow feeling about Wednesday. We're supposed to get something like 3 inches of rain during the day as the temperature will start out unseasonably warm in the morning at 57 degrees. Then by evening we're in the 20's and it's still raining.
THANKS Jay,,,cant head out until 1 30,,,,,,,,,,I guess I will be up against it,,,,,,will be careful and take it slow,,,,thanks again
no problem CBG..actually it looks like it starts to pick up in intensity around 3pm...but I have to tell you...tomorrow night is going to be pretty brutal with heavy rain...heavy wind looking at some of the short term models..wow.
Jay We got an e-mail at work saying there is inclement weather ahead and that we should use mentioned hotlines for any issues. My friends asked me to check with you what this might mean. Do you see anything in the near future or are these guys mentioning the heavy rain scheduled for Wednesday
Yeah GD...i just looked at the 24 hour models and I have to tell you guys...the local weather people I have heard this morning are really underdoing the amount of rain that iwll fall. There will be times overnight tonight and tomorrow where it will be cominig down in buckets for long peroids of time. Flooding will be a major problem for some.
As I mentiioned above Brook...the rain amounts will be near 4" overnight tonight and tomorrow. They have been saying 2-3....I think it will be closer to 4..with some locations even higher. That...along with the wind..gusts of over 40..and Im sure thats why you received that info. Overnight tonight and then perhaps a couple hour lull..and then tomorrow morning till noon at least..wow...heavy duty rain.
Lots of rain here in SoCen PA. Had some ice this morning and they're expecting a quick changeover to snow before its all over tomorrow PM. Funny, but temps never got above 34F here. Must be that overriding warm air that kept it wet instead of white. Oh well, better luck next time.
Yep cman...you might get a quick blast of white before its over but looking at it..if it happens..should be quick if it happens at all. Temps rising overnight quickly..in the 50's now. The storm I was talking about for december 4th is looking like another rain event. Nailing the storms..one after another..but cant get the cold air baby!! Its coming...the bottom line is its all about trends and we have storms coming up the coast in succession. So there is the first trend. Now if we can get winter to do its job with colder temps...we have our snowstorms.
I hear you cbg..still a bit away...cross fingers. Just checking radar and if it hasnt happened yet..cman looks to be changing to snow very soon. We will probably get a quick changeover when the sun goes down this evening..perhaps a dusting to an inch
hey jay, just checked the 10 day on TWC and is calling 50% chance of snow dec 3rd. they always seem to be more conservative on their predicitions. do you think the chances are getting better?
