ha! Dracula...nice one. The heavy bands are starting to enter north Jersey now..the winds should really pick up big time in the next hour too. Blizzard conditions for about 3-4 hours before the sleet starts to step in..so enjoy the next several hours!..should be a wild ride.
Sleet mixing in by me which means the snow amounts will be kept down a bit...but the driving condtions should be even worse. The sleet will last for at least the next 4 hours and this should be a nightmare north of 80 and definitely north and west of 287.
Homeboy..I would give a thousand cash right now to switch places with you...cash..right now. ANYWAY...big dry slot about to enter Morris/sussex/passaic and bergen..that will last about an hour. Then, heavy sleet and snow will return for how long? 1 hour? 30 minutes? 2 hours? not sure..depending where you are..and then the clear stuff should start to fill in. Right now by me...3 inches and snowing..no more sleet.
Yeah. Not even a inch although it did start out promising. Cars in ditches everywhere, perhaps 3inches before the change over. Worked out OK since York Co. forgot to get the salters out anyway. F'n idiots..
Sorry cman...really busted in your area.. Many geeks are taking it on the chin..here is a quote from a guy I follow very closely..and he is very good: really can't believe how fast the temperature is rising. It is almost up to freezing here already. This was just a massive bust on my part. It may get washed away pretty quick at this rate. Amazing. Well, on to the next one. Sorry. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that the next possible storm on Saturday there will not be any doubt about whether it is rain or snow, as it should be plenty cold for snow, but the question is how close the storm will get to us and how much impact it will have upon us. I really took it on the chin with this storm. I will get back up on the horse tomorrow and let you know about the possible storm on Saturday. I truly am sorry about this one. I thought I had it figured out. Nope, massive bust. He had my area getting 8-14 inches...I too have 3 inches. Sleet took over to fast and you want to know something? This time you have to give the pros their do. Everything screamed of this staying snow longer but they stuck with 2-4. Oh well..on to the next one which is this weekend. Right now its looking like a close call on whether the storm gets far enough north....but like that guy said..no question if it does..its all snow.
Hey murrell...probably changed to rain already..pouring rain here with a lot more to come..man..if this had been snow. I will say this..its impossible to view 7-10 days out this year...waste of time. Like last year. I have been doing this for 30 years and even in the old days, without all the modern stuff, you could piece the puzzles together much easier to say there will be a storm in this or that time period. Not so last year or this year. The models..especially the American model, GFS, is a total embarrassment. Disgrace. It has shown major storms 7-10 days out all winter last year..and this year..only to go to a total rain solution..or even worse off...not even come close to hitting us. This is a long winded way of saying this gravy train I was talking about might not happen. All of the storms are not even showing up anymore. Perfect example..here is the current forecast from the NWS as of 1235 am this morning for this weekend: Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Light west wind. Saturday Snow likely, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Saturday Night A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday Partly sunny, with a high near 32. Notice on Saturday it says Snow Likely..not a chance of snow..but snow likey. BUZZZ...according to the models that just came out..nothing nada. Im sure it will be updated in the morning. Will continue to follow but its the blind leading the blind. and with all that bitching...the models now say huge snow storm for Saturday again...monster. Didnt show up at 1pm and now the European model..the best model..shows an all out blizzard for the east coast on Saturday/ Sunday. Your call.....lol.
Well the good news is that me and the kids were outside last nite for a long time,,had a blast,,,we took lots of videos , had a snowball fight or two and I pulled the little guy all over the neighborhood on a sled and he loved it ! Jay keep your chin up man,,,,even Derek Jeter has an off day here and there,,,,,,the morning weather guys say all models but one say very little snow this weekend,,,so again we will wait n see,,,,,,eventually we will get a lot of snow,, be it this weekend or the next. The only guy that I know for sure that won't get any is that Hawaii homeboy,,,,,I am going to look outside now and see if we have anything left,,,,,
LOL.. Yanno what Jay? Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I'm gonna gas up the Ariens and see what happens on Saturday. I'm gonna break in my new electric smoker on Saturday too. Just hedging my bets pardner..
Not looking forward to this Saturday storm. Have to drive back to Charlotte Saturday (can't go back Friday for some personal reasons). Just praying that it won't be that bad, and if it is, I'll try to leave early enough where I can get south as soon as possible. Ugh.
SJ....I cant even concentrate after that post. Now that is a nice twist to this thread...every so often..when the models are going back and forth...bam...3 knockouts with great bodies. Ok...Ty for understanding the frustration..lol. Models agree on one thing..there will be a storm..but its too far off the coast to get hit with anything big. Looks like a 2-4 job..more EAST than west. I have not checked the models days out yet but will now.
I think this is a better way of doing this..need to adjust with the times..and for some reason we are in a period where storms show up and then disappear on every model. Right now of course we have the Saturday storm which is a close hit but not enough of the storm reaches this far north. We then have a storm around the 2nd of January. Now this too had a major shot but its following the path of the above storm...and RIGHT NOW looks to be a minor hit.
