Some of the craziest weather on the planet happens in your beautiful country SD. Wow...some set of balls on those two guys trying to help rescue. Amazing stuff.

What part of the country are you from again?

I sort of have one foot in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

Remember that things are reversed here so the tropics are up north and the cooler climate is south, although we are a lot milder here in winter than your northern states.

The flooding is over a lot of Queensland and this particular flash flood is just inland of Brisbane

Queensland is about three times larger than Texas BTW

    Wednesday

Snow. Additional moderate snow accumulation. Highs in the lower 30s. Northwest winds around 10 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.

Yeah PH...the more north you go...the more snow. The storm bombs out just east of Long Island so those north of that...Conn. will also have huge numbers.

If the storm were to bomb out further south..say Delaware...the NYC metro area would have another Dec 26th/27 on their hands..but thats less than 25% at this point.

Latest and most accurate model just came out..and for snow haters...ouch. For lovers...get ready for another monster.

Bottom line for the NYC metro area:

Snow starts late evening lightly and picks up in intensity hour before/after midnight. Tuesday. Snow will be coming down heavy early Wednesday and the commute will be almost impossible. Rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour at least. Snow ends early afternoon.

Wednesday has got huge cancel written all over everything. Total will be in the range of 12 to 24 depending where the heaviest bands show up. NYC gets blasted. Foxboro gets blasted. Bitter cold temps Thursday and Friday so no melting.

Unlike the last storm, this storm is what the nerds call a Miller B..it transfers energy from one storm coming in from the midwest to a secondary off the Mid Atlantic Coast. These storms have a way of screwing up...and forming more north than models say...so thats the saving grace if you want much less snow.

Great stuff SD. Queensland is that big! Never realized that. Does that area get much rain this time of year? Is this the time of year for floods like that?

Not normally that much rain in the areas affected Jay. They are predicting the biggest flood in Brisbane for 118 years.

There are parts up in the tropics that get 125 inches of rain per year.

Amazing you brought this up SD. 1010 WINS News is the number 1 news radio station in the metro area. Was driving to one of my sites last night and bam...Australia Weather update on whats going on...how many missing...lives lost. So this is big news even here.

The weather is amazing at times...but deadly too. Unfortunate.

It's a huge story here now. All main TV channels going with prime time coverage. Brisbane is a large city and it will flood in many parts.

75% of Queensland is officially a disaster zone.

The weather has always been a big thing in my family. It comes from my Grand parents and their early lives on the land. Always measuring rainfall. I love a thunderstorm, particularly the rare ones with mammatis clouds. But this thing is ridiculous.

I don't know about cloud formations all that much but I dig major thunder storms too.

We live on a mountain and we are surrounded by other mountains so when a big t storm hits, it's echo bounces off of the mountains and the sound is amazing.

You can literally hear the lightning hit miles away and make it's way to my house and then continue down the way.

    It's amazing.

Dude, you are gonna be a zillionaire if you keep scraping snow. Let me know if you need a replacement driver with zero experience, but who can save any animals he runs over with the scraper.

    Hahaha. You got it man.

It's rough, my wife is due to deliver any second now. I really want to plow this storm, should be worth over 2k.

We thought yesterday was the day which means we're really close.

My sister just called me from Atlanta, stuck in her condo for two days because of snow. Her multi billion dollar employer closed for two days. Faggots. Buy a plow.
