Just a quick little update for those that give a rats ass.

The long term forecast of a warmer January is going to turn out to be total bullshit.

Couple of things to plan for next week. Potential for a huge storm Tuesday and Wednesday...and then get ready to freeze your balls off the rest of the week into the weekend. Brutal.

IF..IF the Jets were to beat the Colts and play the Pats...long term forecast up there is for extreme below average temps...

Uggh... I don't wanna hear its going to get colder. It is winter, but still. Getting spoiled by all the weak winters we have had up here the last few years. Plus, I bike to work in Boston most days and I'm already starting to freeze my balls off. lol

I saw on the local news last night, my area is predicted to get between 4-6 inches on Monday. Sounds like a dusting to a lot of you, but I never remember seeing where I live predicted to recieve more than 2-4 inches. Its being listed as one of those storm of the century - snow in Florida kind of deals. Get ready next week for a blast up there.

I was driving through near-whiteout conditions to get to Syracuse yesterday, it sucked. A Ferraro Foods truck slid off an exit ramp and ended up in a ditch.

Your wife should get you a Mr. Plow jacket (not sure if you've ever seen that Simpsons episode, but whenever you post about this, it's the first thing I think of).

Yep Hiker....the long range forecast for this month is for the birds. This month is snowy and will be bitter cold come the end of this week.

Another snow storm and another one where we get left out of the snow. Its like I live in some kinda snow belt anomaly where it snows around us, but not on us. It's cold.. but anything that fell melted by noon. Not that I'm complaining. :)

Like I said, 4-6 inches at my house, and I have never seen 6 inches of snow here before. I've lived here for 40 years, and the only time I've ever seen half a foot of snow was in Boone, NC. And the forecast for the rest of the week next week has highs in the low 30s every day, so its probably going to be hanging around a while. As a matter of fact, tomorrow's forecast high temperature has dropped from 34 to 29 in the last 24hrs, so its getting worse.

We went to the grocery store today, it was like picking through the remains after a disaster. My wife wanted some canned milk, tough shit, it was gone.

I almost killed myself driving through a blizzard leaving Syracuse in 1988. I ran out of washer fluid and tried to keep going. Very dumb.

Are you sure it was 88? I remember driving through one massive blizzard in 89 from north of there in Ft Drum, down to West Virginia. Not that we couldn't get blizzards one year to the next in Upstate.

I remember because we had just come back from field exercises.. cleaned equipment for 3 straight days and were being granted block leave for the holidays (Dec). The commander was being "cautious" and wouldn't let anyone sign out at midnight for leave because he was worried about our lack of sleep and driving.

So we couldn't sign out till 6am the next morning. After the blizzard was beating down the East Coast. There were cars off the road all over the place. I know at least 10 guys that had gotten stranded in it.

Damn Yis, Im sorry...I quoted you as Hiker previous post. Yeah..the long range January forecast was to eventually warm up. Im freezing my basketballs off tonite and snow on the way.

Long range for the end of this month is still saying warm up..not sure what to believe.

As far as this storm is concerned, half models have all out snowstorm, half say it grazes us. Model that comes out at 1am today will tell the tale I believe. Will post what it says on about 20 minutes.

Really tough call on this storm. Like the last storm, fine line between heavy snow and much less. Latest models show the center of the storm east...which brings the heavy stuff from NE New Jersey, NYC and a much bigger hit for Long Island.

Latest model breakdown is 6-8 North Jersey, 8-10 NYC and over a foot of snow Long Island and the Jersey Coast.

This will positively change. Screw it...Im pleading the 5th on this one for now. One thing is starting to look for sure....JETS/PATS = COLD.

Very long range forecast for Boston, MA next weekend:

Saturday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thats as far out as it goes.
