Sure, go run around and elevate your already stressed heart rate. It's not like your wife and kids actually matter. Shit, you should do this mound of cocaine and steroids right before you run some sprints.

Could Folk really be that good to make it seem unnecessary to re-sign Feely or are the Jets just hoping to get a good signing out of letting Feely go? I don't get it.

If he can be the #19 kicker next season and cost less than Feely, it's worth not worth it to resign Feely.

I don't like this one bit. I love Jay Feely, and I think we should do what we can to keep him. We should try and establish some sense of consistency at kicker.

    Two words: Doug Brien.

Kicker isn't the place to economize, this isn't fantasy football.

During his time as a Jet, Doug Brien's stats were almost identical to Jay Feely's.

Brien screwed up in the playoffs, and you can't do that in this league. Feely missed a very big kick in the Indianapolis game and that probably cost him his job.

No wonder Feely is a fan favorite here. Kicked good, made a bunch of ballsy tackles, colorful personality, etc. But the guy has rubbed people the wrong way in this league, which may explain why he's bounced around so much.

Maybe Feely's kind of a jackass who quickly wears out his welcome.

    And deservedly so.

You start fixing shit that isn't broke and then you get into problems. Unless there's an LT version of a kicker out there I'm not aware of.

Nate Kaeding's overall numbers are probably better than both of them, do you want the season riding on his right foot? I don't.

I wouldn't have had a problem if they had just cut Brien and 'fixed' it by finding a kicker in FA that could clutch it up, or even draft one late.

Instead, they scapegoated Brien so hard that they ended up spending a 2nd rounder on a guy that ended up being average. That reeks of desperation, especially considering the HC was almost equally responsible for that loss as the kicker was.

    Can you read?

    Let me quote myself here:

Once again, Jay Feely missed some big kicks in the playoffs and those misses probably cost him his job.

Feely is over rated by the fanbase. He is a slightly above average kicker. no more no less. You cannot fault his effort or dislike his personna but do not let that cloud the fact that he is not in the top 10 kickers nor anywhere near it.

He actually shows how many shitty kickers we have had that he is revered!

Signing Folk and potentially picking up another street free agent or UFA is not a bad idea as Folk IF he turns his game around is an upgrade.

2 million for an average kicker is way too much regardless of cap situation.

There is no sure thing on our special teams right now. No one knows who our starting kicker or punter will be in week 1 and our best KR, Leon, is coming off a broken leg. We also lost guys like Wallace Wright and Marques Murrell. I, for one, think the lack of continuity is a concern.

Last year was probably the worst year our ST unit has had under westoff in his career on the Jets staff. Chances are our staff decided it was important to change things up to help recover from a down year.

Jay Feely is good, not great. Certainly not worth overpaying for. If Westhoff is comfortable letting him walk, then I'm confident in his ability to make that decision.

Those 2 misses in the Colts game were killers. And he's never been that great on kickoffs. Kickers are a dime a dozen. You never know what you're gonna get with them.. look at Kaeding. He's supposed to be the best of the best and the guy couldnt make a big kick to save his life.

Once again, in another way, I'll say this for the people who are freaking out. There is one simple reason Jay Feely won't be a Jet next year: he's the only expendable member of our team.

If there were no "Final 4" rule in effect this year Feely would already officially be back in green and Folk would never have even had a tryout.

We didn't have many guys come up for free agency. Especially those who could command a decent payday. The board was lit up with calls to get someone like Sharper, but we can't unless we lose somebody.

Jay Feely is simply expendable. Nothing more, nothing less.
