its not glowing praise, but not exactly Rez saying he played bad as well. Looks like the coach wants more attitude out of him but is not unhappy with his play. I jsut hope he continues to make strides in this defense.

Sounds like Rex Ryan must be some kind of Justin Miller lover.

We didn't draft Miller to become a return man...he was supposed to be a CB, but SUCKED at it. That's what I am likening Gholston to.

So why is it that a loyal Jets fan would want one of there #1 picks to fail so badly? So you can be right?

Never said I want him to fail. I just have not seen anything from him that gives me hope that he can actually become an impact player.

Just calling it like it is...can't sit here and try to find excuses for a 6th overall pick. To this point Casper has been very disappointing.

You came running to this message board to find and bump this thread after one game. You may not have ever said you want him to fail, but your actions sure do indicate it.

Please explain to us why Westerman had so much of a better game. It was the coverage sack that really got your blood flowing, wasn't it?

Gholston didnt do anything to hurt the team on Sunday. In fact, his play in which he disengaged his blocker and took down slaton for a loss was quite impressive. I didn't expect pressure from him in run support.

Yea, I still support VG. I believe he will become better as the year goes on.

WSW and Abyz pretty much knocked this one out of the park....

neither did I. he looks like a run of the mill JAG right now. i expected the Texans to run at him all game and for him to fuck up and give up big runs.

he did well for a kid who was drafted to play the wrong position.

Gholston was part of a unit that completely shut down a very potent offense. A unit is only as strong as it's weakest link.

I honestly have no clue how well he did individually, but it's not like he was out there sucking balls or we would have noticed it when the Texans attacked him.

that's the thing. if he's consistent, he's at JAG territory which is above a bust.

then the next step is above average, and then a level of "good."

he could hit all three this year if he grows some balls. Its all mental with him.

I think some of you guys are being way to easy on ghost... hes not some unknown player, but he plays like one, if he wasent taken 5th in the draft he would be second stringer at best.

he still is a second stringer. He's playing behind thomas and pace.

If VG ever gets back on the field as a starter, we should just boo him as he is announced. He should be ashamed at himself. He had all the opportunity in the world and decided to become a bum. Screw rookie contracts, VG has enough now to sit on his ass for the rest of his life.

yea, the gholston supporters really missed this one by a mile! he sucks in a major way and they cant see it. ha! ha! ha! it would be nice to have drafted a football player with that pick rather than someone who looks like one with his pads off! it would be so nice if the nfl would feel sorry for us and let our team have that pick back.

I personally can't defend his play too much anymore, because individually he has nothing to show for. However, the defense played some of its best games when he was in there as a starter. Take that for what its worth...

I love how people just assume the Gholston injury isn't real. Like the guy is immune to being injured.

And what exactly has Westerman done?
