Think of it this way... without Gholston we would never have sacked Mangini and we might have never drafted Sanchez... who cares if he doesn't produce on the field... thanks to him we have Ryan and Sanchez now :p

PS Of course I agree with everything the article says although he is getting better...

I love the way they are dumping this on Mangini to save face. I mean, Johnson and Tanny had no say in this at all? It smells fishy.

It's easy to pile all the blame on Mangini now that he's gone but Tanny is wearing the pants in the organization and is the one that should be held responsible. He heard what the scouts said and he either he thought Gholston was a good pick, or he let Mangini walk over him.

we all know how mangini was/is. If he wanted this to happen I can see him pulling the "power play" that he did.

I guarantee you that's why Tanny will hold his job longer and the real make or break on him is sanchez. But that's pretty obvious at this point.

Mangini was that kind of dictator. That's why he was on his way out after the season they had last year. Gholston was on him, he was a total bust last season - so the man who wanted him most gets the axe for it, and for the shitty collapse.

    revis was a no brainer.

Gholston had tons of questions coming out of school.

Uhh...Sanchez would have to throw for 50 yards 0tds and 10 ints to replicate Gholstons rookie year as a QB.

After the game vs Houston, I cannot stress how much the thread title is true.

All you Gholston backers are probably the same as the Justin Miller backers...see the light people...see the light.

Why, because he had a coverage sack? I didn't pay close attention to either, I'm just wondering if that's your reason for saying this.

There's nothing wrong with supporting a Jets player and hoping he gets better. You make it sound like a bad thing.

If you weren't so busy hoping a Jets player would fail so you could be right and tell people on a message board I Told You So, you would realize that they both had a decent game but neither was spectacular. Get off your high horse, #50 wasn't all that bad for once.

What's your point? You wanna sit Gholston? Or better yet, cut him?

He's already recorded half the tackles in 1 game, he had all season last year while on defense. Give the kid a break. Why can't you wait until the end of the season to evaluate him, rather than just hoping to be right about who can play and who can't. If Westerman and Gholston both begin to play well, this D can be nasty. Cheer them both on to get better. I don't know what the big deal is.

I'm not the only one that felt Westerman played better...Rex agrees:

Maybe you should actually watch the presser on the official site instead of taking an idiotic one-sided account of it from a blog and parading it around like you made your first dookie.

Just calling it like I see it. It's okay for you to love Gholston hard....it is...but it's also okay for me to be critical of him. I think he's the second coming of Justin Miller...its my opinion, if ya don't like it, don't read this thread.

call me crazy but i think gholston played well against the texans, he had a nice tackle in the backfield and i counted at least 2 or 3 qb pressures, sure he is not living up to the billing but i wouldn't write him off yet...especially in this defense, rex ryan coached t. suggs up, maybe he can do the same for the ghost, most pass rushing de/olb do not shine until their 2nd or 3rd year a la d. ware

Are you really that much of a halfhead? You should read Scik's thread titled 'I Support Vernon Gholston' in which I heavily criticize Gholston with specific play breakdowns during the preseason.

Why don't you spend less time jerking yourself off in this thread and more time actually telling us the specific instances of Gholston's failure so I can make you look like you know nothing about football?

Wait, I think I just answered my own question.

Perhaps you should see the game, no? i do not think anyone here is trying to say gholston is great. however, most rational people who have at least a little bit of football knowledge can see he is making progress. I think you should have dons title, just sayin.
