Gholston has had 2 decent-good outings in a row. Not to say hes finally getting it but he isnt as worthless as being deemed on this board.
Gholston has made big strides in this preseason, he has gotten better every week and is night and day different from last year.
Seems like I must have missed his "flashes"... Started watching half way through 3rd Q and he looks like his usual non impact self Westerman with the big hit on Vick to force fumble and da ghost a few seconds late as usual...
The CS sure as hell is getting their money's worth out of Da Ghost tonite. He's been on the field damn near the entire game.
really? he's had pressure on vick several times in the 2nd half, one of which vick turned to run from gholston and got sacked for about a 15 yrd loss. he's played well tonight, showed some diff moves other than a bull rush, 1 of which he got a sack. I've come to the conclusion that even if gholston has a multiple sack game, some of you will still find a way to bash him. hes making progress, no matter how slow, at least hes moving in the right direction.
And that would be fantastic! If he weren't the SIXTH OVERALL PICK and earning this shitload of money he counts against the cap to be an impact player.
The ghost is back from the dead. He showed real command and good instincts getting to the qb on that play. On top of that, he just manhandles him with a fucking bear hug and slams him to the ground. Gholston's progression through the pre-season compared to his degression of last year just goes to show what a horrible coaching job mangini did with him last year. Rex rules: Gholston, get your ass on the line and bull rush to the quarterback, and then you come back and do it at the same speed the next play. That seems to be working with him. Don't confuse him with dropping back into coverage: just bullrush their asses. Don't get me wrong; he's still the ghost until he performs with some prolonged consistency; however, it's gratifying to see some response from the kid.
I don't see how anyone can rip Gholston after this game... it clearly was the best he's played... at worst he's making progress... nothing wrong with that.
a #6 overall pick getting paid millions against guys that will be cut in two days in nothing special. I will agreed it is the best he has looked so far, but how will he look when he is starting against other guys making millions? I'm afraid he will suck very bad.
