Dolphins make it official: Jake Long Rams on the clock: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/news/story?id=3358424
RAMS- Glenn Dorsey ATL- Matt Ryan OAK- Chris Long KC- Gholston (esp. if they trade Jared Allen) NY JETS- McFadden
NFL Network reporting Rams will take Dorsey at 2 and M Ryan will go to Atlanta at 3. This is essentially a lock. No way Atlanta takes either Gholston or Long, their first draft pick last year was d line. SO, if it does in fact go J Long, Dorsey, M Ryan we are guaranteed to get either C Long, Gholston or DMC. I hope Gholston lasts, he is a mf'in beast who is perfect for 3-4 OLB.
can St. Louis start negotiating with players like Miami did, now that they're on the clock, or do they have to wait for Miami to officially turn in their card at the podium on Saturday?
im wondering if Chris Long is really suited for an NFL 3-4 Defense. obviously Jake Long looks like he'll be a nasty beast; but Parcells is very keen about building a good Defense. is it a matter of Jake Long filling a bigger need along the Dolphins' OL, or did Parcells maybe not feel Chris Long is right for the 3-4 he wants to run? because if that's the case, then maybe Chris Long wouldn't be right for our D either, since Mangini's tutelage comes from Parcells and Belichick.
would anyone be surprised if the top 5 went like this? Miami: J. Long Rams: Dorsey Atlanta: Ryan Raiders: S. Ellis Chiefs: Albert that would be the ultimate mess in my pants. think of the clean up....
And that was definitely the right pick for Fatcells. Jake Long will be a all-pro OT for the next 10 years, right it down.
this is great, c.long, mcfadden, and gholston left w/4 picks before us, our chances of getting one of them is pretty good now
Except, you have two big contracts in Pace and Thomas, to play OLB. The guy you want is Long, because he can play inside next to Harris.
if the top 5 ends up like that....the Jets phone lines will light up like a christmas tree...with teams willing to sell their left nuts for a shot at McFadden, C.Long, or Gholston.
Jake Long was the guy the Rams wanted. Now they're going to scramble to decide between Chris Long (who I think they're going to take), Glenn Dorsey, and trying to trade down a half dozen picks to get Ryan Clady. I think they'd take Dorsey if it was not for his knee. The Rams are a very risk-averse franchise and I think they won't pony up #2 money for him. Atlanta grabs Ryan in a heartbeat, which at least puts an end to the bleeding that trading Matt Schaub right before the Vick implosion caused. The Raiders grab Glenn Dorsey. The Chiefs take Vernon Gholston to replace Jared Allen whom they have to trade at this point. They'll take an offensive lineman further down the first round with the proceeds of the Allen trade if it happens on draft day. And we have McFadden, Rodgers-Cromartie or a trade down staring us in the face. Not a great set of options imo.
great post, in typical jet karma we get hosed with crap scenario. good read on atlanta having to fix PR disaster of trading Schaub before thug turd played The Dog Whisperer.
