I would think (but I don't know) that Idzik was in touch with Mark's agent before he released him. That he didn't just call Sanchez up one day and tell him "you're released." And that like all player's there were specific money issues and clauses that had to be worked out before he was let go. Maybe Idzik tried to work with him on a pay cut (and keep him) or he might have tried to lower the cap hit. I assume these are all part of the process. What we see on the Internet are just summaries of contracts with basic numbers. Ok for fans like us to shoot the breeze with but not enough data an organization needs to make personnel moves. The thing is we don't know all of the intricate details of this process. It's not easy to cut a player. It's a full time job for professionals not Monday morning Qbs.
