I see what you're saying Hobbes and it's not without merit I saw a mock recently that had the Jets taking a WR at 25, I believe it was Kiper's most recent mock, but he had us taking Dwayne Bowe .. and I thought to myself, NOT A BAD PICK, this kid Bowe is a terrific player with a huge upside
I agree, Amobi is a 43 DT .. that's his ideal fit .. but I projected him to Miami and they play a 43 They're a 43 team and their DT's are older than dirt
Bruce is a 100 Years old, lost a few steps, and is breaking down physically .. Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald are UFA's Here's a list of free agents, JV .. we posted it at DraftDaddy a few weeks ago http://www.draftdaddy.com/prospects/freeagent.cfm
It amazes me how often you and I are not only on the same page.... the same paragraph, and the same sentence. There were no two men on the planet that were more in deep man love with Cutler than you and I! :drunk: On Turner.... yes, where here is smoke there is fire. Problem is, the hillside has twenty different smoke plumes eminating from it. Which ones are campfires or wild fires? Given a choice of Carriker or Turner with that pick, I'll take Carriker. I've read about Turner doing too much dancing in the backfield from SD homers this year. I'm with my fellow poster, Jonathan Vilma on this one. Antonio Chatman actually put up better numbers than Turner did as Tomlinson's backup. Where is he now? Same goes for Rhodes.... they run behind o lines that are far superior to what we put out there. Both players also play for teams that have multiple offensive threats, especially of the big play type, and QB's that can throw the bomb. The decline of Jamal lewis in Balt is directly tied to the fall off in Ogden's ability to open gaping holes. I'm not buying into the Turner hype. We all thought Jordan was going to do really well in Oakland. Without an O line that can open holes big enough for any RB to get through the trash without getting hit is what makes good RB's great ones. Once in a while, the O line has to get it done, and in the running game, this O line, as is, can't. Thus, my affection for that beast Ramirez. Frankly, I don't think our 2b pick would be a reach for him. I'd rather shore up the run D with a 3-4 DE, get some help on the right side of the O line as far as run blocking, and look at an RB like Booker later on. Irons aint the guy.... we already have Leon for that role. As others have mentioned, as much as I respect Pennington, the lack of a deep threat will continue to handcuff the offense, especially the running game. I think Turner will be a bust, unless he has a SD or Pittsburgh sort of dominating O line to run behind. This is the rare occassion where we don't agree. Turner would be a mistake.... maybe the first big mistake our new regime makes.
Bruce may be breaking down, but he maintained himself enough for another thousand yard receiver. In a system with Scott Linehan, it's another long set vertical passing game; similar to what Martz ran. They don't need two excellent receivers. They need Holt and a compliment. The Rams need to build their defense up, because with Bulger in that offense, and Torry Holt still good as gold, they really don't need another offense weapon. You have to remember Steven Jackson is going to be good for 75 balls a year. As far as Okoye goes, I am aware that Miami plays a 4-3, however I don't like Okoye in the middle of a defense with Jason Taylor, and no legit nose tackle under 500 years old. I think if Miami were to draft him, then they would depend on him as their nose tackle, and he really isn't big enough. He gets a good enough push, but he shoots gaps rather then holds up offensive lineman. It's a football's player nature; if they're fast enough they're going to shoot the gap. I could see Okoye as a 4-3 end situationally even, because of his playing speed.
Thunderbird, booker is in no way the guy if your making comparisons to leon, hes just as small and is the same kind of player, not to mention constantly injured.
I like it. - I like Cleveland taking Adrian Petersen. - I have a feeling the Patriots will take Poslouszny. Tell me you can't see him playing in New England for over a decade. - I'd rather an OL with the #37. Robertson can shift over and play DE if we find a NT somewhere in free agency. - 2 WRs for San Diego? I like it. McCardell is on the outs of his career and Jackson/Parker are better as #3/#4 guys. - Chicago doesn't need a TE. Desmond Clark is pretty good. They need a WR much more. Muhammed is aging and Berrian is a #2 at best. - Nice job... Your Top 5 is the same as my Top 5 in my mock, which I will soon post.
I would hope the earliest pick that we would use on a running back to either draft or trade the pick for would be the later 2nd round pick. I still think we have many other pressing needs on both lines. I think they wait another year before they go after a top of the line running back. It just doesn't make sense to give up a first round pick for a back that won't have any room to run this year.
Well they have to start sometime right? They have a very old linebacking core and really need some youth. Pousluszny is a tough old school linebacker from Penn St. I couldn't think of a more perfect fit for any player in this draft than Poslouszny to New England. Plus, they have 2 first round picks just 5 slots apart. I garuntee a LB for them on Day 1, and more than likely at #24/#29.
Actually, I don't know much about Booker, sorta threw that one out there. Thanks for the recalibration, but the point remains, I don't like trading away a one for an unknown commodity like Turner. Yes, the player we draft is also an unknown commodity as well, but these backup RB's rarely turn out to be what they were projected to be, with the exception of Holmes. Chester Taylor, good, but nothing to write home about, ditto Jordan. I just don't like the track record of backup RB's that are expected to be studs.... more often than not, it doesn't work out.
I dont like that trade to begin with but would hate it even more if a Gonzalez or Posluszny is still available at that spot. Those are 2 guys that would help the Jets Immediately.
I agree with that but they've had holes at linebackers for years and continue to address them in free agency. The type of linebacker they are looking for is not easy to find in college. They want big guys who can rush the passer, drop into coverage and take on lineman head on. They have to be smart, versatile and great tacklers. They could have addressed this year after year in the draft but they haven't, so I don't know why they would now. They love to draft lineman on both sides of the ball. I would guess that they will sign another linebacker and possibly draft in the mid rounds an undersized defensive end that they can transition to one of their linebacker spots over a year or two.
Yeah they do go with late rounders/free agents alot it seems. But they had a failure with Beisel and Colvin hasn't lived up to the hype. Poslouszny could make a prime ILB in the 3-4. This guy is very smart and instinctive and a great tackler. I think its time for New England to get some talented youth at LB via the draft.
Absolutely one of the best jump ball players I have ever seen....once scored 5 TD's in a game this year....Sidney Rice dominated SEC top notch defenses with really not much other help around him his freshman and sophmore years (only played 2, redshirted his first year.) He has the potential to be a top 10 WR in this league, and I would hate to see him go to the Pats. For all you guys who haven't seen him, I would really compare him to a slightly less talented Calvin johnson, or a more explosive and athletic Dwayne Jarrett.
You may be "The Most Knowledgeable" Jets fan but, I disagree.... ; ) Only because of Brian Schottenheimer - I'd NEVER be for trading for a complete unknown but, we know the Jets Method of Operation for the most part is going to build through the draft and keep their own players...So, IF they were to go after Turner, to me that would be a Ballsy move that said "I am willing to stake my Jets career on this Guy"..... For all we know, Turner could be better than LT in Brian Schott's eyes and the best prospect he ever laid his eyes on...... Hopefully... IF Schott feels THAT highly of Turner, they wind up dealing one of the 2nd rounders and not go nuts over him like Bradway would.
Exactly. Turner is not a complete unknown to the Jets, he is an unknown to Jets fans who now feel he's overrated. Schott's input would be huge on the Turner issue, and it doesn't suprise me the Turner rumors came as he came into the Jets org.
