I'll never understand why teams don't just poll all their season ticket holders and let them decide between like 5 designs. WE have to like those jerseys. Not the players, not Woody. You want to sell these to us, so why don't you let us pick what we want instead of just forcing some piece of shit design on us that nobody wants in the first place? And it's like that with every team, in every sport. Team owners are just complete morons.
I like this better than most of the designs I've seen. The green isn't as dark and dull, and it's a clean look. I like the shiny helmet. The only thing I don't care for is the NY on the helmet. To begin with, they're no longer the NY Jets, they're the NJ Jets, so if they're gonna put the letters of their state or city on the helmet, it can't be NY. I like the idea of a sleek fighter jet logo. I don't like the football.
On one hand that makes a LOT of sense. Then again, look at some of the unis posted in this thread and favored by fans who may be season ticket holders. Theoretically, at least, the fans could choose some garish, cheap and unprofessional looking unis. The team has to have last word as it's their brand, their image that's going out there. I do agree that the fans should be at least polled and their opinions considered.
Not true. The Toronto Blue jays chose their "new" uniforms (essentially and update to their old ones) after polling fans at the stadium. And as a Jays fan i can say fans are beyond happy with the results.
I was thinking the same thing except that I think grey could be the primary color (you know , like a military grey that would be the same color as an F-16). Staying on the fighter jet theme, I could see numbers and player names in the same font as you'd see on a jet or aircraft carrier. Also, I've always been a big fan of numbers on one side of the helmet. As much as I like the classic look of our current uni's, they have become boring to me and I'd like to see a major overhaul. We could still make the oldschool fans happy by rocking the current uni's as throwbacks a few times a year. I know lots of people hate teams that change their uniforms all the time but I personally love the fact that you never know what teams like Oregon are going to be wearing each season!
I think the NFL's rule about not being able to use throwback unis any more due to not being able to change helmets is dumb. It's like Rex doing away with team captains because HE made stupid choices one year. Oregon's uni are interesting. On the flip side, ALL of the University of Maryland's unis and helmets are butt ugly. They have the weirdest state flag ever, and they try to incorporate it in the unis and it's hideous.
1. I didn't know about that NFL rule on helmets! 2. Couldn't agree more about Maryland's unis. They are an atrocity with every new iteration. I think Louisville's 2015 uniforms are kind of hideous as well. I just really like what Nike has done with the Oregon uni's over the years. Not every one has worked but they have come up with some pretty innovative design concepts (chrome, matte helmets for instance) that have caught on with other teams.
The rule about not changing helmets makes little sense. It is there ostensibly to reduce the risk of concussion because the same helmet is always being used--I guess maybe it is a fit thing. But is the same helmet always being used? Are the practice helmets the same as the game helmets? Do helmets not break with the need to swap out to a different, new helmet? I've heard that QBs have a back up helmet in case their radio goes out (and as an aside, you should probably bring 2 or 3 extras to Gillette) so helmets can get swapped out right during the game. If a helmet no longer fits (due to steroid use or lack of steroids) or the helmet no longer feels comfortable--can't a player swap it out to get a new helmet? Or is he stuck with an ill-fitting or uncomfortable helmet because of a fear for concussions. And are new or different helmets less safe? If they are properly broken in over an extended period? I'm just not sure every single helmet on day 1 is the exact same helmet being used on the last day of the season--so if helmets can be swapped out--why can't all of them for a game or 2? _
