Apparently the Browns have 10ish departments reporting to Haslam. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/tension-mounting-in-cleveland-where-yet-more-change-is-feared/ So when we feel we're the worst, we can always look to Cleveland and feel better.
Well, I'm a bit partial to fishing but I can think of several good hobbies to fill the void that will be 2017 Jet Football. Hunting is good, learn how to fix and/or create your home network. I'm sure you'll get creative next fall. I know I will..
Yes, I do think some of us can make a better decision, a more objective decision, than a coach that is fighting for his job. Why, because we are more concerned about the future of the team than they are. Don't kid yourself, these coaches, especially defensive minded coaches, are not making the decision themselves. When they are long gone we'll still be rooting for this team. Will they? Besides, you are totally in the minority on this one. Yeah, let's start the worst QB in the league that led us to a shiny 3-8 because our young guys must be worse. How can you possibly do worse than 1 td and 12 interceptions in the 4th quarter. Also, Petty wasn't allowed to really play. He led a 95 yard drive, our longest of the season, and I think it was his 3rd possession as a starter. He did not look rattled. The coaches played scared and made sure they didn't tailor the game to his strengths. You give these guys way too much credit.
Matt Simms..........Greg Mclroy......Tim Tebow.....even Taj Boyd... All of the fan base reacted the same way .All four of these guys are out of the league ....
I challenge you to provide any proof whatsoever that Taj Boyd or Tim Tebow were clamoured for by Jet fans. If memory serves, the fanbase ridiculed Rex for Taj Boyd and factoring out the Tebots, nobody took Timmy seriously. Out of the guys you just named, only Matt Simms fits that criteria. They all may be out of the league, but there's no way to tell if they were with an organization that had some idea as to how to develop a Qb, their careers may have ended differently. All of those guys were cursed under your hero Rex and his parade of OC's.
Other than Matt Simms, none of those guys generated near the interest Petty does. Tebow was a project and a sideshow. McIllroy had a popgun for an arm. Taj who? Petty will be a pro in the NFL for a long time. Alot longer than Geno I'd bet.
My hero Rex has his team at 6-5 and atleast the Bills fans can pretend they have a chance like we did last year.Call me when Bowles wins 4 road playoff games....Ill be waiting by the phone.
Todd Bowles continues to make head scratching decisions which will make even his most loyal supporters lose confidence in him. The way I see it, Bowles is currently coaching for his job. If he was guaranteed his job next season, he may role with the young guns across the board for evaluation purposes. Since he is probably coaching for his job, and Petty and Hack are not ready, he figures he should go with the lesser of all evils and put in the experienced, overpaid, disrespectful, lazy QB fitz is. Bowles' worst qualities from his rookie HC season, have been exasperated by his failures this season. He even came out and basically said he is fine that no one tackled Brady even when Brady left the pocket and made himself a lead blocker.....not to bring up the past, but if Rex was still coaching this team, Rex would have hoped the defense assaulted Brady. The timid, no emotion, ultra conservative, non-adjustment making, bad timeout taking, shitty challenge making Bowles is not fit to be a head coach. Nothing about what he's done this season has inspired me, and many others to suggest he will somehow turn it around.
He's the same moron that signed Fitz after an embarrassing standoff all off season so why shouldn't I believe it? If Fitz is our starter next year there's no way I will watch and root for this team....no point Will just watch redzone and play fantasy...maybe throw a few bets down
You don't know why he signed Fitz. Woody may have ordered him to or Bowles may have been making a stink about bringing back Fitz and to keep peace, Mac may have acquiesced. I didn't want Fitz back and I think you didn't either, but most fans did. Woody very easily could have been afraid of fan backlash and ordered Mac to do it. If Fitz is back or Bowles is back, I'm done with this team. They can fold the franchise or go 0-16, and I won't care.
At the end of the day Macc signed off on the deal. Even if what you say is true it means he did a bad job. A general manager needs to stand up for what he believes is the right football decision-- no matter the pressure. Macc deserves plenty of blame for this mess. $12 million to Fitzy with no other suitors is bad business. That is worse than Bowles sticking with him when the team is 3-8 IMO
Bryce Petty cannot supplant Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starting quarterback for the 3-8 New York Jets, and it isn't even a debate amongst the coaches and gm. How can that many professionals be wrong about Petty being ready to start? I'm going to error on the side of the Jets GM and entire coaching staff knowing what's best for the TEAM.
So cut Petty. If they're not gonna play him over the worst starting QB in the league then free up another roster spot for someone else.
As much as I want to hope both aren't back, my gut tells me Bowles will get a 3rd year. This nightmare never ends with this team.
