Well all of us are in the clear. No games for eight months means that we don't suffer from the syndrome. You've got (most likely) another month of NAGS suffering. Haha! There IS light at the end of the losing tunnel!
The defenses lack of production is not so much the scheme(s) put into place by Ryan, but it has SOOOOOOOO much to do with the fact that the "Inmates Run the Asylym in Oakland"...specifically, Warren Sapp and Burgess....and on the offensive side Gallery and Porter... I posted in another thread that it can not be overlooked that Ryan could very well bring a quickly developing YOUNG DB in Asymohunda (spelled something like that)..although some think he could get the franchise tag...
I like the potential hire seems to have football in his blood and Mangini and him are friends Article 2 years ago about Ryan potentially being a jet http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/10544.html
I'll believe it when I see it, he may be offered a head coaching job also. Atlanta,Baltimore, or even Miami I think would give him a look.
baltimore will interview the brother, so i dont think he has a shot there i heard someone else for atlanta, but i cant recall miami, maybe, but doubt it. i think we have a good shot
Still don?t see where this is an upgrade. Chokeland?s D was horrible and it looks like Ryan was working off of the same three year old copy of Belli?s playbook as Mandoofis?but whatever. This is an upgrade because him and ManIdiotSavant get along good? Guess I?ll just have to trust in the profound wisdom of TGG.
This would be an upgrade because... 1. Mangini and Rob Ryan would be on the exact same page. I am almost certain that Sutton and Mangini butted heads about how to run the defense. Mangini essentially took over the defense in the second half of both seasons and because of it, our defense played MUCH better. With Ryan, we wouldn't have these problems. 2. Ryan has the pedigree. This guy has been brought up to coach defenses and the guy is simply a better game planner than Sutton. 3. He and Mangini are friends. As a head coach, anytime you have the ability to add a person you get along with, is a tremendous addition. These guys will be able to cook up great defensive game plans and schemes TOGETHER.
LOL and you think by giving us a bit of news 3 hours late is going to make that stop? :breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance: good stuff.
Sure. Why not?! What the hell?! Might as well try it. Except that Rob Ryan doesn't impress me. Rob Ryan has never done much to impress anyone at all. He's not the innovator that his father was. Not by a long shot. And, if I had the choice of Ryan brothers, I'd take Rex in a heartbeat. At least Rex has shown a consistent ability to coach talented players to a high level. Under Rob's belt, you have: A few unremarkable years at OSU; A few unremarkable years as a position coach under Crennel and Belichick; And, a few years with a defense stacked with high-rough draft picks, with a one-year spike in production, which was really nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Just look how the statistics of his one good season break down. Nothing special anywhere on his resume. But, as I said, sure. . . why not.
Yes we all remember that but just look at how it turned out. If Lynch had come here we'd still be stuck with geriatric John at the safety spot and some guy named Kerry Rhodes would go onto greater things with another team. As far as Ryan if they can get him great but they need to deal with Sutton first and then maybe make Ryan DC/Asst HC. That certainly is an enticing offer to a young guy.
1st....Ryan probally ain't coming to the Jets'. 2nd....Sutton doesn't pick the players, he only coaches them. Anyone could see that the Jets' have needed a NT for the past 2 seasons. Unless Ryan can play NT effectively himself, there will be not much different. If Mangini....Who we hear quoted saying that the NT personnel is O.K., doesn't upgrade the NT position & continues with the same players...Jets' will get the same results. Honestly....To blame Sutton for the Jets' woes on defense is ludicrious. It's not like Sutton & Mangini don't talk. Mangini is the boss & everything has to go thru him. I guess that Sutton is also responsible for the Jets' weak OL ? The real problem is the Jets' MANAGEMENTS' lack of ability to prioritize there "needs" from there wants. This falls on Tannenbaum & Mangini.
Quick question: How many NTs were available in the offseason? Which of them would you have picked at the time? I can think of Ngata...too early to draft him at 4 though quite a few people did want him...and Gabe Watson who is only now (year 2) playing decently for the Cardinals. You act like Mangini is playing his guy at NT right now.
Why not? Because he and Mangini are best friends? Because Mangini tried to hire him in the first place? Because Sutton has done such a tremendous job?
