The WR's have been chaotic plug and play since about game 6 of Sanchez career. The offensive coordinator also had to be steered aggressively in all 3 seasons but particularly in Sanchez rookie season.

I didn't even indict Tannenbaum on his biggest failing in the Sanchez mess. There's no way Sanchez should have been allowed to start from game one of his career. He should have had at least a half season on the bench and probably the whole season just to learn. That's the normal thing to do with a rookie QB.

Again, nobody was watching reality here. As fans we're supposed to be thrilled that the #1 pick is on the field and doing well and then not so thrilled when he starts to struggle and then horrified when the struggles begin to look, well horrible.

As a pro Tannenbaum was supposed to be safe-guarding the Jets investment in Sanchez above all else because he was the single most valuable asset the franchise had moving forward, even moreso than Revis.

The Giants didn't let Eli Manning start until game 9 or 10 and then they stuck him in there even though he was likely to (and did) cost the Giants a playoff spot in the process. They didn't pussify him either, by turning him into a butler for the rest of the offense the way the Jets did with Sanchez.

They let Manning make his mistakes and learn from them. It was a loooooong learning process but the Giants got their rings out of it in the end.

The difference is on Tannenbaum. The GM has to be the adult in the room when he's got a wahoo head coach who doesn't have much of a grasp on the offense at that point and an offensive coordinator who specializes in running QB's out of town,

This is the year Rex and Sanchez have to step it up. They both have to prove that they are the guys. Both took steps backwards last year. Rex needs to instill more discipline and fear in the players. Think about the great coaches: Lombardi, Noll, Landry, Parcells, Belichek, etc. They weren't jokers. Their players respected them and I think had a bit of fear for their jobs if they slacked off. Rex needs to worry more about his players respecting him instead of liking him. If the offensive line does it's job, Sanchez needs to hit more passes and show he can throw the ball down the field occassionally. Can't wait for the season to start.

I agree with the points you make but you missed the number one mistake made with Sanchez. There is no way he should have started his first season here. He should have been on the sidelines with a clipboard learning. That move is on the coaches.

We screwed Mark up right out of the gate by throwing him to the sharks with no pro experience - and limited college experience. IMO this has caused a bad learning curve that Mark still struggles with today. Instead of developing him we heaped all the presssure on him from the start - because we knew we only had 2 years to win before the salery cap caught up with us.

Read my followup to the first post. I think the biggest problem with Sanchez development is that he was handed the job without having to earn it and very over-exposed in the process. By earn it I mean put in the time to actually learn an NFL offense before he was magically transported to the field for his first start.

Obviously if a team drafts somebody on the 5 pick he's going to hit the field at some point but the Jets just kind of pushed Sanchez out there and said go win a Super Bowl.

Like that was going to work. And I'm sure Sanchez believed it was possible that first game he started but having the Jets management team thinking like a 22 year old NFL rookie also was kind of pathetic.

Duh I guess U are very weak when it comes to NYJ history since the GREATEST coach ever is Weeb since he is the ONLY HC that has won us a world championship

Wasn't Weeb a failure though? He only won the SB once.

Is this Rex is fading thing a reference to his recent massive weight loss?

And it didn't help that we did advance to the AFC Championship his first year. Partly because of the final 4 rules but also because it probably got in everybody's head is that all we need Sanchez to be is a game manager, something he isn't. He just isn't that type of QB but we might unofrinately turned him into captain checkdown over the past few years.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the AFC Championship run, but the Jets seemed to forget they were still 9-7 the first year with Sanchez, not 13-3 going to the championship game

I think the defense is good, but they still haven't shown me that they can bring quarterback heat without the wild, complex blitzing schemes.

The linebacking core is aging and Demario Davis better step up.

Cromartie is a very medicore cornerback.

The safeties are a huge question mark.

    A) The decision to start Sanchez was a Coach's decision not a GM's decision. B) The NY F'ng Jets went to the AFCCG w/Sanchez in his Rookie season. C) This is yet another stupid basis for questioning Mr. T.

1 is better the none so since no other NYJ HC ever won one by default Weeb is the best to date

In all his other years he was just as unsuccessful as Herm, RR, Man, Walton, Coslett etc, etc, etc
