I don't think there's anything funny about the Jets right now. They look like a poorly coached team with fundamental weaknesses in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The offensive line looks like a below average bunch with a good player at LT and a great player at C. None of the people running the ball look comfortable behind the line and the QB looks very twitchy back there also at this point. The defensive front seven is very average also and the run defense and pass rush are both weaker than you'd think given the people actually on the field most of the time. That probably means we've got a coaching problem and some over-rated players there. Unless something changes this team is going 8-8 at best.
I wasn't really excited about this game because i figured that we had better beat miami, and beat them good. If we didn't win by atleast 2 tds,i'd be disappointed. But i saw tonight when the O gets some confidence back, especially Sanchez,we might be ok.
A few good things here and there. I guess the best thing is that it's a win, and Sanchez didn't turn the ball over. Very mediocre game, especially on offense. I'm usually very positive, but this game was a stomach turner.
If it's any consolation lation, the Chargers have not looked that good this year despite their record. Gates has been slowed by injuries; they no longer have Sproles and Vincent Jackson should be nullified by our Lord Revis Christ. My biggest worry is Ryan Matthews and his speed to the outside. We've had serious problems keeping containment on the edge this year.
Phillip Rivers has not been that good this year. Gates is probably out. Their run game is overrated. Norv Turner is a jackass. If they didn't have such tall, unstoppable receivers I'd think the Jets have a fairly good chance to win this game! But alas, they do..
Rivers has been surprisingly bad so far this season, but their run game is solid. It's not top tier, but Tolbert and Mathews have been getting the job done. Mathews has been an all-purpose yardage machine this year.
True.. Matthews has definitely racked up big yardage, as anyone here who plays fantasy football knows. But he really only had the one big game running against Denver, who sucks. And Tolbert is averaging 2.1 yards a carry or something like that. Their backs do a lot of their damage as receivers out of the backfield, and Rivers is the king of dump off passes this year, especially with Gates injured and V-Jax missing parts of games. Revis on Jackson, no Gates to worry about, I think we'll be able to take away those short passes and limit the RB's, while daring Rivers to beat us deep down the field.
If our resident scouting expert says Matthews sucks, then we really have nothing to worry about. Silly me.
On the plus side, it'll be tough for him to drag you downfield with his nuts in your mouth. You could be an asset. Hopefully I don't have to be an asset in Dolphin games next year.
As a committee, they're averaging a little over 120 yards a game. Mathews has had over 100 total yards in every game this year - he's done a hell of a job as a receiver, which is really surprising because he didn't catch many passes at the college level. I'm just worried that if our offense starts off slow again, Tolbert will pound away at the defense and Mathews will beat us with big plays. They compliment each other very well.
