Col. Jessep: Hmmmm... transfer Santiago. Yes, I'm sure you're right. I'm sure that's the thing to do. Wait, I've got a better idea. Let's transfer the whole squad off the base. Let's... On second thought, Windward! Let's transfer the whole Windward Division off the base. John, go on out there and get those boys down off the fence, they're packing their bags. Tom! Tom: Yes, sir! Col. Jessep: Get me the President on the phone. We're surrendering our position in Cuba! Tom: Yes, sir. Col. Jessep: Wait a minute, Tom, don't get the President just yet. Maybe we should consider this for a second.
It's almost like we're trying to talk ourselves into it the longer Fitz holds out. Fitz has already shown what he's got. It's GeNo that needs to seize any opportunity.
Amen to that. I'm sure Chan will quickly figure out who gives us the better chance based on current performance and not just past performance.
I don't have much faith in Geno, Gino, Gina, Gyno, et al....but I do have a lot of faith in Chan Gailey to get the most out of whichever QB is behind center. A lot has been made about how great Fitz was last year but Gailey is the one who deserves the credit, imo. I believe he can also put the #OGOriginalGeno into a into a position to help the team rather than hinder it.
Here's a question: What if Geno does start and has a season similar to Fitzpatrick's last year? 10 wins, 31 TD. He would be a free agent. Probably command $15-20 million a year. Ridiculous to think about, but look at Cousins or Osweiler. It's crazy but true.
Fitz has shown what he's got... an uncanny ability to choke in the most important game of the season. He want's to come back on the cheap and give it another go God Bless him, otherwise get bent and enjoy the couch. We don't need him.
If that happens he will get thw franchise tag just like cousins. He will have to do it again to get a long term deal
The problem is Fitzpatrick has at least shown at the worst NFL mediocrity, and just put forth the best NFL season a Jets quarterback has had since Vinny in 98' (Pennington debatable in 02'). Geno has proven to be a turnover machine and nothing else thus far. If he had proven more than what he's shown, then it would certainly seem unfair.
Betcha if Fitz re-signed in March and Gailey retired, the credit for last year would be going to Fitz and not Gailey.
Thanks for the input Good to know any QB who started from day one and hasn't even played 2 full seasons can't get better....ever New coaches, stronger work ethic, film study, natural maturation....all means nada We're insane guys
Players tend to at least look better when they have talent around them. Talent relieves a a lot of pressure for some athletes. Moreso in basketball. Look of all those guys who played with Lebron and moved on for more money...Ghosts. ..but at least they got paid. Qb is a unique positionlotalmost every play begins with that one guy handling the ball...if he sucks...
Fitz and his agent are also insane Bowles and Mac too To let this contract dispute go on is unnerving The FO is hopefully restructuring a few contracts to get Fitz signed...TC is in 2 weeks
If they were we would know it as they would have to file them with the league and then Cimini and company would be all over it. They may be trying with little success too.
I see your A Few Good Men quote and raise you a Kelly's Heroes. Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? Moriarty: Crap!
