Bryan Thomas stings because the entire Jet world wanted Ed Reed over him, especially when we already drafted Shaun Ellis and John Abraham only two years earlier. Thomas wasn't a bad player, but he wasn't a very good player. The definition of average who didn't play semi-decent until the end of his tenure when Mangini came around.

Similar situation with Hobson. An OK NFL linebacker that I wouldn't group with Gholston, Coples, Hill, etc.

I agree and that is one thing Woody got right in picking Macc. Not only his draft picks are playing significant minutes but his UDFA finds are. Got some great playing from Anderson, Middleton and Marshall. I think he whiffed on Hackenberg but all GM's do and former Jets GM's missed alot. Give him another draft and more UDFA to find.

Didn't like the Lee pick and definately didn't like the Hack pick the moment it was made. I wanted Cook and he will be startig in a playoff game this weekend. Hackenberg couldn't even get preseason snaps till the very last game and the last half. I think Macc has been a good GM. Idzik had 20 picks and really no impact player. Macc is getting UDFA on the squad playing. Plus Jenkins, Simon, Burris, Peake, Williams. I'm a draft fanatic and I can't remember that many players not only making the team but starting and playing.

Yes, but those organizations have had years of good drafting and the jets have not. You probably need something like 5 or 6 years of good drafts before you can do that. Maybe Macc will get there.

Right. I don't think it is a great idea to draft a guy because he might be able to cover a giant TE like Gronk. He has to bring more to the table than that one possible facet. Speed yes, muscle and tackling ability---no. Are they using him to blitz? if they are he is nto very good at it. the pick puzzled me, and I do not want to run the player down. I did not like the Devin Smith pick, though I tried. One trick pony, and then you sign a QB who cannot throw it to him. How many times did Fitz underthrow Devin last year? Also has missed time (ribs, knee). The Hack pick? Whatever. i honestly believe Macc wanted him and was hearing rumblings that someone might get him iin the third round. But you have to be true to your board. You have a rating on a guy, be true to it. As for lower round picks, I think Macc has done well. I like Peake, but do not understand why a guy with 4.4 speed does not get one deep ball thrown to him, especially when he is so long and has shown decent hands. But that is not macc. That is the coach. I would say all in all, Macc is average so far. The Hack pick could ruin him, though. He has to show a little something next year
