I got up to take a leak so I missed the 4th and goal play but I agree. I also have no idea what kind of gameplan that was by Taylor but it sort of ended up working? They kept going tackle eligible 6 offensive lineman/2 tightends and run off tackle and then would jump back to 5 wide. They ran nothing that worked together off play action or anything. I saw CJ Uzomah at 2 touchdowns +2400 and passed over it for Agnew to score at the same juice.
Good looks. Yeah options don't work in the NFL unless you're Lamar Jackson and even they run it once in a blue moon. NFL linebackers are too fast so that just became a QB Power real quick. Read option on the goal line is pretty effective on short yardage situations but that was a speed option that got smothered by the edge defender keeping contain. Not sure why teams even bother with speed option in the NFL.
That's what I mean. A linebacker can cover both the pitch and the quarterback by themselves. That's why it doesn't work unless the QB is unbelievably fast. Plus they don't rep it like college teams do so I'd be terrified of giving my quarterback the option of pitching that ball to a back when they practice it maybe three plays a week.
