It wasn't perfect but the offense showed something today

With the 8th pick in the 15th round, my fantasy team selects whichever Jets kicker wins the job.

Hill, tonight, proved me right for being cautious about getting too excited about him as some people have been on here

I always hear about his great size, great speed, great blocking ability, but i have never heard anyone say anything about him having good hands; which is the most important thing in a WR IMO.

It seems a lot of people think just because Demaryius Thomas came out of that system and has been a good WR so far that Hill will automatically follow in his footstep. It's not that simple

It's more of a concentration issue than hands, methinks.

Don't think Hunter can even bring the Jet a 7th round pick. Jets would probably have to include another player/pick just to force somebody else to take Hunter right now.

We win the game late if not for the false start penalty on Josh Brown's 40yrd FG, which got moved back to 45yrd, which Josh missed.

Had he made that one, we are down by 2 points with Tebow driving late into EZ FG range.

We shoulda won that game by 1 pt.

who cares? it's preseason. They had opportunities, had a dropped TD pass bad penaly. As long as they clean that stuff up they'll be fine. I thought Sanchez played really well, I'd like to see the Ol open some holes for Greene but they were much better in pass protection. I feel pretty good about our O.

That was a big miscue there. That penalty led to the missed FG that's probably eliminated Brown from roster. Was rooting for him too because I liked his kickoffs.

I said the same exact thing. They actually had a functioning offense last night. Sanchez wasn't running for his life. Amazing how much of a difference good protection makes.

If he can get used to actually having time I think the offense will look really good.

There is no reason to have an ounce of optimism about the offense.

    Where are the playmakers?

    I can't name one.

Greene? Sure, if you like 3-yard runs.

Holmes? The occasional slant ain't gonna cut it.

Hill? If he grows some hands.

Sanchez? If he gets a head transplant.

Size and speed alone don't make for a great athletic WR. He seems a little clumsy to me. You look at him and think a big Al Toon but he is not a big Al Toon he might well be a biger, faster version of McCariens.

Have any of you seen the comments under the main Jets story on ESPN.com? all those assholes saying that the Jets have no offense or that Tebow/Sanchez are the worst QBs in the league. Makes my blood boil...

That makes them half right. I really expected Tebow to suck but be competent. It's clear he isn't a competent No. 2 NFL QB and McEllroy should be getting all the 2 snaps.

Totally agree. Haven't seen Sanchez take a shot downfield in forever. Nice to see him show that he can still throw it and even took off and ran for a 1st once or twice. We 're gonna be okay. Maybe the Jets will use Tebow as an RB? Should be fun to watch this year. Let's get Plax back and some veteran depth at RT before the season starts though. Otherwise happy about last nights performance.

Lets just be glad that Tebow is primarily a wildcat QB.

I will say, too, that while I've been down on Sanchez for a while, the guy has a hell of an arm and is throwing it with some serious zip. A lot of really solid throws that turned into drops due to crappy receiving.

i felt like we really missed keller on the possession after the coples strip.sanchez trusts keller and probably puts a catchable ball in the endzone if keller is in.
liked the deep shot to holmes that just missed.just taking that shot is enought to back the safeties a bit.
hill is raw but if we get 5/70 out of him every game we will be ok at the 2wr.
didnt hear howards name much so thats good.charles johnson is no slouch either so a good barometer.

overall i liked the concept of the offense and think by week 4 this thing will be clicking.if they get us 20 pts a game this team can play with anyone

Sanchez and the receivers had some really good hook-ups, and not just for dink and dunk stuff, either, like in the first few games. Tebow had a few nice throws also. Receivers definitely need to work on catching the ball, though.

The inability to get the ball in the endzone is a little troubling, though. I know it's just preseason and all and they're not doing too much gameplanning, but still....

Everybody develops at a different pace. Hill has never been a great prospect as a WR until the combine. Not at any level. He was the 99th ranked WR by Rivals, coming out of high school. That's not bad but it's not the sign of a guy who is going to go to college and blow people away or blow them away in the pros either.

This is why he wound up at Georgia Tech in an option offense and probably damn glad to be there. He was a really good fit for them. Good blocker, great speed to get deep when they caught the defense cheating up, not going to complain about not getting 7 or 8 targets a game.

Anyway, the point is that what the Jets need to do now is find a way to help Hill be a better player than he's ever really looked like he was going to be. They need to work with him to develop skills that have never really been there, to go along with the natural ability that his size and speed present.

The Cimini article really pissed me off. The fact that it was on the main page made me even angrier. I actually thought the offense played well last night (in terms of execution). The drops were the main culprit last night, something that is pretty fixable. The line played well with Howard stepping in seamlessly. The TDs will come.

I can't believe how big of a deal people are making about the no TDs. Its pre freakin season. When preseason counts for something, people can let me know.
