There is nothing on the books for deflating balls and covering it up. Hence commish trying to figure out the right discipline . There are some good pages in the brief on how that as arrived at in context to this being a new precedent case.
I believe this^ is 100% accurate. It's all those things, that culminated into Roger having to drop the hammer. A make up call for wrongs, righted in the past. Basically, he is/was running out of excuses to give to the other 31 owners. The profits are there, but one rogue franchise is making all the rules and changing a tradition of how we play the game of football. And although deflated footballs can be silly to talk about, the NFL has to follow through with their appeal as this case is already having major implications for how punishment, and cheating specifically, will be dealt with in the future. The people deserve to have confidence in the integrity of the game. The notion doesn't matter if Br*dy is a 'future HOF' or he can win the game with 'beach balls.' There is a process, and that process is not finished. The appeal court most make a ruling on this case, so that confidence is upheld through our legal system; and people can trust the sport they are watching. On a side note, I think it was truly foolish of the 'honorable' judge Berman to attend a beach party with Bob Kraft less than week following the Brady deflategate ruling. Kind of like it was foolish of Goodell to attend a dinner with Bob Kraft at the Kraft estate less than 24 hours before the AFC Championship game. Those are the kind of bad decisions that make people lose confidence in our system and our sport. I hope the appeals process will be fair and unbiased. And although deflated footballs can be silly to talk about, there must be a final ruling and closure.
And he should be...he's been in the same system for 15 years and around much of the same offensive personnel for the last 5 years. This is a distraction your boy brought on himself. Don't cheat, lie and destroy evidence.
Hob Nobbing Money Slobs like to be seen and heard, no matter how bad the optics are. Make no bones.....I suspect Berman received a nice envelope at that party.
Missed reading a few of the case references included in the brief regarding competitive balance in sports Brady/NE = 1919 Black Sox scandal Well then Goodell, ban the whole team. America will applaud you!! http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...ompares-deflategate-to-1919-black-sox-scandal
They can't think for themselves; they follow whatever the sports media conventional wisdom happens to be. The sports media (who are 50% out of Boston and all live in Connecticut) says it was a witch hunt and unfair? Then it was a witch hunt! And unfair! Peter King thinks it should all go away? Well Peter King would get on his knees and knob Kraft (and Brady) tomorrow if either one of them would let him. Same goes for the majority of ESPN who never played professional sports. It's the same reason our fans get all worked up whenever the sports media (particularly the NY sports media) gets bored decides they want to rile them up. It's why we hear nonsense refrains like "the Jets are a circus!" and "the Jets can't win because some of their personnel don't speak solely in cliches when addressing the media". It's nonsense, but it's what the media says over and over again so our guys believe it. The Pats cheated. Brady cheated. He got caught and there was actual evidence (text messages between the accomplices implicating him). He should absolutely be punished ... and given the Pats' past history of cheating ... the punishment should be to the full extent the league can legally get away with. If they lose, they should keep appealing and appealing until they can't anymore; that's what billion dollar businesses do. You don't let people cheat because "everyone does it" and you don't let people cheat because "it's icky that the media keeps mentioning he cheated" - it's nonsense to think otherwise.
I hate feeding this clowns thread, and I don't believe deflating balls is this horrible blackballing offense that most fans try to make it seem. Toronto said it right in that they're trying to burn Brady and Belichick now for everything they've done dating back to Spygate. I just don't get how Brady didn't get two games for tampering with evidence. Regardless of what hand he had in making sure the balls were deflated, the NFL came to him to investigate and he Aaron Hernandez'd it by smashing his phone right away. That should be two games. And if Brady was smarter he would've ate the punishment, go back to dominting the league in weeks 3-16 and this all disappears. Instead he had to be a crybaby about it and its making him look worse each passing day.
Yeah because trying to bend the rules in your favor is really comparable to intentionally trying to lose games.
That comparison would have been much more convincing if Goodell wasn't wearing a jacket with a fan duel advertisement on it to court.
what the fuck are you talking about keep vigilant? are you seriously delusional enough to believe your shitty posts on a message board have any impact on anything?
