He did well on Saturday, but it was preseason against a vanilla defense. If Rodgers gets hurt the Jets are screwed. I don't know how much Zach would improve in a regular season game against a starting defense that is actually trying to win the game.

No one is trading for Zach Wilson due to his contract. And we would eat a bunch of dead money.

The Jets managed to win 5 games with Wilson playing game manager last year. So if Rodgers goes down for a game or two I don't think it is unrealistic to ask Zach to game manage them to a win or two.

If Rodgers is out more than they then it doesn't matter who the #2 is and that include the White Knight.

Schedule is brutal this year. The Jets, Bills, Dolphins all figure to beat the hell out of one another. Even NE won't be an easy game. The NFCE is tough especially with the Eagles and Cowboys. Then you have the Chiefs and Chargers as well. Without Rodgers it would be tough to make the playoffs. Especially since the AFC is loaded this year.

I think it's worry for no reason. Zach is developing. He is finally getting the good coaching he should have received his rookie season. Between Hackett, Downing and Rodgers, I have full confidence that if Zach has to play this season, he will look at least like a competent NFL QB, if not better.

I think the Jets only keep 2 QBs on the roster and Boyle goes to the PS to enable them to keep another position player.

Yes, it's been too commonplace in the past, but is becoming less so. I continue to believe that with the progress he's making, that that will go away completely in time as he continues his growth in the mental aspects of the game, and gets more comfortable with his new footwork and approach to the game and builds confidence. He completed 70% of his passes on Saturday. Give the kid a break.

Yeah, decent QBs are just hanging from the trees. Care to list some?

I wonder what SF is going to do with Purdy, Lance, and Darnold. I am not suggesting the Jets look to get one of them. I think they are going with Purdy as the starter but if one of the other 2 gets cut then I could see another team signing them as a backup QB.

Purdy is the starter and Darnold and Lance are competing for #2. Consider this, Sam has 2 more years experience than the rest of niners QBs combined. Sam may actually be leading the niners come postseason.

No one is going to trade for Wilson even if he looks All-World in the next 2 preseason games because of his contract.

From what I have been reading Sam looks better then Lance and the premise I read is that Lance maybe the odd man out... who would have thought!

Lance looked awful as a passing QB. He's a good enough runner that you can center the offense around his rushing ability and win some games doing that. But if Purdy doesn't work out, I think we'll see Darnold start there before Lance.

I still think Zach sucks. Yes, he played better but it's ONLY because he was playing 3's and the defense wasn't scheming. He shown a little improvement very little......

I thought Zach looked fine but Bryce Young is really small. Unlike most people on this board I'm no expert but the kid didn't show a big arm and seems to be a pocket passer. Most smaller QB's like Murray have big arms and great speed. I'm really glad he not on the Jets. I wouldn't trade Wilson for him at all.

Yes I did give him credit for the 70% in another earlier response. Especially me, who’s been super critical of his shit poor completion rate of 53% or so, I was very happy to see 70% passing from him. HUGE step up for him. And I’m glad to see it. Now he needs to start stacking that type of performance.

And I’ll also go ahead and concede the point that this may also be a sign of a more experienced OC calling a game plan that will help develop a young QB by giving him quick easy throws to make to get him going a bit. There were very few downfield throws this game…mostly quick hit passes and dump offs and screens. All good…if that’s how we need to bring him along then so be it.

My post up there was as a response to that one play, which showed the old typical Zach kind of throw…missing the easy stuff that he SHOULD be able to do in his sleep as an NFL QB. But baby steps it is.

    I hope he continues!

Zach Wilson will be fine as a back up for next 2 years. We pretty much do not have a choice in that matter anyway.
    Then he will be gone.

Should’ve traded him sooner and kept White as the backup.

I’d say he’s one of the worst backups in the league. And earning a lot.
