We had a chance even before this 4 game suspension to Rob Ninkovich due to banned substance. But now N.E is in major trouble with Brady & Ninkovich both out for 4 games. Since becoming a full time starter for N.E over the past 5 years he's had season's of 6.5 sacks, 8.0 sacks, 8.0 sacks, 8.0 sacks & 6.5 sacks (37 sacks). An average of 7.4 sacks per season. They'll miss his pass rushing pressure from the outside desperately. Has started all 80 games over the past 5 years. They'll miss his experience within N.E's defensive scheme tremendously. This is a major, major blow to N.E's defense and as a Jets fan I'm absoulately loving it.
I believe we have the talent & smarts to make this year THE year. All we need is luck. That's something that's always been in short supply.
season's over douchbags, wrap it up , same shit every year, namath curse lives on , why would we expect anything different, we could have all pro's at every position, we would still never do anything cuz we're jinxed, deal with it , I hope ur all still alive when Namath croaks so we can all see some championships, until then SOJ
Well, by "a while" I meant for the last several years. I believe that Burris has a lot of potential, and has already looked pretty good. We still have Williams. Roberts I don't know much about, but when you consider that our depth for the last several years has been Milliner and McDougle and Williams, don't you think that it's better now if for no other reason that Milliner and McDougle could never be counted on because they were always injured? It's still not desirable, much less great, but with all the holes the Jets have had, there's only so much that can be done in each offseason.
Side question here: Who first reported the "Namath Curse" and when? It's not exactly like throwing a piano in a lake or buying a goat a beer.
It is generally accepted by LSJFs that it came about at the precise moment that he made his guarantee, in the days leading up to SBIII.
If Suzy Kolber would have kissed drunken Broadway Joe during that televised half-time interview the curse would have been lifted. Damn you Kolber!
It's not the Namath curse. The Defensive backfield have been really bad. Part of that is coaching and the rest is communication and the guys not doing their jobs. The O line isn't giving Forte any holes and that put more pressure on Fitz. Our Red zone scoring is crap! How about really using a TE on the short yardage plays. We just picked up another one, but if he doesn't work into the rotation...why bother.
I've been one of Fitz' biggest critics this season, and one of the leaders in calling for him to be benched. That may still be true, but the following has given me something to think about. I read an article yesterday in which Gailey was defending Fitz, and saying that it was all their fault, not just Fitz'. He said that WRs were running the wrong routes, they were dropping too many passes, pass protection was breaking down, they (the offense) weren't executing well, and some of the picks came from tipped/dropped passes. Gailey said that they need to simplify the offense and go back to basics. He evidently did the same thing last year, because I remember when the offense was struggling last year, he said the same thing then that they just need to get back to basics and simplify things. After that the offense took off. If what he said is true, what is wrong with him? Why does he keep making the offense so complex? How many times does that have to happen before he learns the lesson and keeps things more simple? If what he said is true, Fitz and the other rocket scientists they have on offense can't remember the plays correctly either because they're stupid or there are too many plays, the plays are too complex, or they're not making effective use of their practice time. Keep it simple and stick with what works. Quit trying to be so damn cute. The articlealso said that the Jets are the 2nd worst team in the NFL in terms of dropped passes. That is inexcusable, as is running the wrong routes. In the article B. Marshall even admitted that he had run wrong routes.
