Understandable. But Pool has basically been injured the entire season. Smith was hurt recently, and Ihedigbo also recently got hurt. If your options someone healthy vs someone who wasnt that good to begin with and is hurt on top of that you gotta do what you gotta do. Not to mention its not like were signing someone to play December 6th, were looking for someone to play from January 16th through February 6th. I understand its a lot to learn in 6 weeks but theres obviously a hole there that needs to be filled.
Pool missed 1 game. Smith and Dig have missed 0 games. I think if their was a player capable of getting significant playing time on the top D in the NFL out there he would have been picked up by now.
Patrick Turner was able to get on the field with a team that has Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Jericho Cotchery, and Dustin Keller. Is it that much of a stretch that we could find someone who could find playing time vs Eric Smith (career backup), James Ihedigbo (career special teams player) and Brodney Pool (Chronically injured safety) ? Im not saying were going to get our next safety, or even a starter but I think itd be more than pretty important to have a 4th name on the roster, ESPEICALLY if we plan on ever using Ihedigbo on special teams. Id hate to see McKnight have to play safety too in addition to corner.
with their second round pick of 2011 the new York jets draft ......... .......... safety from .......
Go with E. Smith/Ihedigbo platoon, maybe they move Lowery to safety and see how that goes. Leonhard hasn't been all that spectacular in coverage this year, if Smith can make the calls we should be fine.
No, there isn't a safety to pick up. There is no FA FS just waiting in the wings to be exactly what this team is looking for. Its not madden.
How about picking up Myron Rolle off of the Titans Practice Squad? It would allow us to take a nice long look at him going into next season.
WYSIWYG......At this point in the season coupled with some of the communication issues that have plagued the defense, I think Rex will make some adjustments and keep pushing forward. There should be more emphasis on our offense to generate more points so it takes some pressure off the defense, especially in our upcoming game. I would love to see nothing more than Sanchez as our MVP against the Pats..........
I think we'll get by this week okay. The Pats don't have anyone to stretch the field anyway now that Moss is gone. Anyway there's not alot out there as far as Safties go right now... http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2010S.php
