I don't know which is worse -- Rex doesn't know or he knows but doesn't have the personality to change it.
5 years is enough. Are we better with Schotty, than without? If so, that means we are a 1-4, or 0-5 team without him. I somehow, doubt that is the case. No one is saying change the whole offensive system and nomenclature, so you are talking about rebuilding from scratch. You cannot replace the players on offense in any significant manner, but you can replace the offensive coordinator whose good game plans and calls seem to be far outnumbered by ones that look more like ineptitude and cause even further head-scratching. The team, and the offense in particular, needs a kick in the rear, and the OC has earned a kick out the door.
Rex basically refused to give Schotty any blame during the press conference. In the words of the great Mike Francessa, "Ya lost Rex. Schottenheima is da problem. He cand go boom, boom, boom don da field. Ya lost Rex. It's Schottenheima."
The play design is as bad as the play calling. That fake end-around handoff up the gut never fools anybody.
Rex never throws anybody under the bus in post game press conferences. It's not his style. So that doesn't really mean much
When all 3 of your wide receivers ( Holmes,Plex and Mason) are complaining to Rex seperately and even Sanchez has hinted the offensive playcalling needs to change, Shotty will be gone before the season ends. The writing is on the wall. Callahan for OC

Of course Tom Brady couldn't succeed in this offensive scheme. Tom Brady's a good QB outside of the Pats' timing based spacing system, but he's not 'Tom Brady'.
At this point, Bill Callahan would be the only option. You can't promote an outsider, and that includes Tom Moore. A new offensive system can't be installed midseason, so you'd essentially be asking for a playcaller familiar with the system, and that's Callahan. You'd just have to hope that Callahan would be amenable to a change in his preferred system going forward. He ran a WCO in Oakland and at Nebraska, and that would be a terrible fit for us.
