The season is done in terms of the playoffs. It's just beginning in terms of evaluating which players and coaches will be here next year.
Only teams with a winning record that the Jets have left are the Ravens and Bills. All other games are actually winnable. Not that I see the Jets finishing 9-7, but they can still astonishingly put up a respectable record if things actually click.
That would be typical of the Jets win a pile of pointless games to ruin the next draft after the season has already been fucked.
Certainly, the problem is that you have Sam Darnold at QB. What's better for his development? Finishing 7-9 or finishing 1-15?
Seriously what difference does winning make to anybody's development? If we lost by a single score every week do you really think that is making a huge difference to a guy learning to throw a ball, read a defence and whatever else you want to tack on. The only thing would be possibly learning to finish a game out. What would be better for him is getting a top 3 pick trading back down and filling the damned OL with talent so he can then actually get more time to develop a play and make a pass, rather than seeing GHOSTS.
There's at least a psychological factor to losing all the time. Even still, if you're losing by a single score each week it's a lot different than losing in humiliating fashion like they did last week.
Yes losing 33-0 every week will hardly be a good thing but if you have ever played sport for a local team then losing every week is a thing that happens frequently but doesn't make you necessarily a crap player, it makes you a player in a crap team. I have always just felt that going 7-9 8-8 leads you absolutely nowhere in the long run, it is the very essence of mediocrity. Of course tanking is only any good if you are competent in the draft room and unfortunately for us we are shit at that as well. Go Jets.
I disagree. The Jets are incapable of ruining the next draft on account of draft position. History has shown us that we can ruin the draft irrespective of draft position, and anything after the first round is a crapshoot. Maybe the new GM will brake the curse
