Agreed. If I have first pick in my draft tomorrow, I'm NOT taking Larry Johnson, even though I went to PSU.

I was upset about the performance of the O last night but I'm very encouraged about the job Mangini is doing so far. The Defense not only played well, they played hard and the secondary did an excellent job. The Giants are loaded at WR, TE and RB and the Jets D held their own. Mangini is a defensive coach and you have to like the way the D played. I also love the fact that Miller screwed up in a preseason game.

The O on the other hand doesn't look very good. I have doubts about Shot Jr. because I hated his fathers Offensive coaching philosophy. Positives we have guys on O who can stretch the field in Smith and Washington, the negatives Chad is a shell of an NFL QB right now and Clemens isn't ready. I expect to see a lot more screens and misdirection with Washington and Smith getting multiple opportunities to stretch the field and keep the D honest. They have to stop running the WR screens, Chad just doesn't get the ball out fast enough and until we make the D pay for playing up those plays are worthless.

I love the fact that Mangini is teaching and is bringing descipline to this team. I think he is going to be very good, whether Shoty Jr. survives is another story.

H'mmm guess you missed all my opinions of Herm just to name 1 subject. Woody would be another, Becht would be a third. Quslity of our roster would be another. Maybe you need instruction in reading English?

If you didn't see the game, then wait until you do to make a comment like that. Pennington's arm looked fine.

And what difference does it make now anyway??? It's PRESEASON. Pennington had a great game last year against the Vikings in preseason and everybody said he was back. Look at how that turned out. Nothing matters until September 10th.

Too early for this kind of judging IMO….

For you 3 preseason games might be enough to come to your conclusion about Mangini.:shit: However, keep in mind that you’re looking at half the work. We'll know, and be able to judge, after he completes his plan. And still, you won't be able to know for sure if his plan will work until next season ends and we get to see the results.

Now stop kicking yourself in the ass. It’s only preseason.:)

So instead of complaining, what is your suggestion? Are you saying Mangini is not the right choice? Do you have a better choice for HC? GM? QB? Any suggestions at all to replace your criticisms, any solutions for your 37 years of problems? Why don't you and Mr NY Jet find a room somewhere and watch Super Bowl III over and over and leave the rest of us alone to enjoy football.

The tough, smart players comparison is absurd. How many coaches want tough, smart players? This is a direct reflection on Bill Parcells, whom Mangini and Billy B owe their existence to. Here's the difference: Mangini actually found tough, smart players. Kotite just went with an empty mantra.

Do you remember Bruce Coslet? He won every single preseason game one year, and most on another, and bombed the rest of the season. Do you know why? Bruce was opening the playbook up in the preseason while everyone else was evaluating talent. To say the O is boring in a preseason game, is not a shining light, but another indication that you have at least a reasonably smart HC.

Chad Pennington is what he is. That has no reflection on Mangini, and anyone who tried to somehow contort this into such an absurd argument, is just speaking for the sake of argument. Go beat your dog or something. Bitch at your neighbors.

Do you remember Kotite quizzing players on their interview? I sure as fuck don't. Anyone that has half a brain knows this approach is damn solid at bare minimum.

Go watch the Giants or something. Go watch KC. If you can't handle sloppy, then don't watch the damn preseason. Bill Parcell teams have focus lapses. It happens. That's part of the reason there's a fucking L column...

    Get a grip.

This has to be one of the worst threads I've ever seen.

I missed the game Friday night, but my parents recorded it for me and I got to watch it Saturday morning. Between reading this message board and reading articles from various sports news sources, I was expecting to watch my high school swimming team on the field in Jets jerseys running for their lives and begging for mercy. Instead what I saw was a game where the Jets gave the HIGHLY talented Giants team a tough time, held their own, and ended up losing because ultimately they kept shooting themselves in the foot. The defense was very good, the special teams was fantastic, and Chad was fine. He had a good first half and a sub-par second half, when the second stringers started to come in.

This is pre-season people. Kudos to those of you who recognize this and the fact that we are a rebuilding team.

Start with a owner who DEMANDs results. Examaple would be a Trump pr steinbrenner type person. Not knowing anything about E & T I cannot at this moment say they are right or wrong for the team. All I know are the true FACT is we have been rebuilding for 37 years with zero results. That is zero results. In that period the Niners & Boys (who came into the league after us) & Steelers won 5 SBs each. In the same period the Skins won 3. That says something about there management to find the right people who know how to evulate talent & organize & put a team together. No matter the FACTs are we have been rebuilding for 37 years with NO results whatsoever up to this point

Ah yes all I am doing is pointing out the FACT that we have been REBUILDING for 37 years with NOTHING tp show for it. No matter how you choose to spin it the FACTs speak for themself

LI Jet Fan ... come on man dont u think this post is a bit premature? I mean really BADway and Herm left us with a GARBAGE team. This man has to implement his system, its on the 3rd week in pre-season and your comparing him to Kotite? Can we gave Mangini AT LEAST 1 season. Herm had 5.

I believe that the Rooney's owned the Steelers for fourty years before they won the SB. They were the laughinstocks of the league for a long time. It took Jack Kent Cooke's Redskins eight years to win a SB. The Cowboys were in the league for 12 years prior to them winning the SB and many thought Landry and I presume the owner :) couldn't win the big one.

First off, I think think you give too much credit for SB victories to the owner. Do you really think the Ravens owner DEMANDS for results had a big deal in them winning the SB in 2000? Second off, you blame Johnson for 37 when he's only been the owner for 5 years. Wouldn't it be better off to blame Hess?

If you don't know anything about Mangini and Tannenbaum then how do you not know that Johnson hasn't picked the right tandem?

Have been a NYJ fan since 1965 & having seen much I would say Hesses cheapness was public enemy #1. Then there was his non caring attitude to the NYJs vs Hess oil. In fact to this date I boycott Hess gasoline. Now for Woody he HIRED Bway & Herm so enuf said about him as a owner. If you win NOTHING repeat NOTHING for 37 years then you 1st have to look to the very top of the organization as it all starts there since he is the CIC of the operation in the end.

E & T are already on my bad side for take a OT with a 4 pick. Just think if he does not make the pro bowl 15 years running & HOF then we used our #4 pick on a player that was just average just like we have had in the last 37 years. In fact you may wish to check backwards some years to players named Cadigan, Powell & Ward who were also supposed "bookends" OLman who we picked in the 1st round & turned into just average players

Oh yes just see my signature. If you had read it how can you say I am blaming Woody for all 37 years of medicore FB?
