Right. He should stop running and take a little while to contemplate his decision before making the tackle. C'mon man. He was clearly going for a leg tackle to trip him up. It's not like he can put on the brakes in mid air because the leg isn't exactly where he thought it was. The game moves so fast, you can't always prevent that kind of thing.
Landry went arial about 5 yards from the hit and a miss could have been a TD. I think Landry was happy he didn't miss. Additionally, if I were Landry I would want anyone coming into my territory to worry about getting hit. Landry has NOT broken weak yet. Let's hope he never does. Rock on Landry! Go Jets!
He thinks enough when he does it. I like Landry as a player, but he's probably 70% aggressive and 30% dirty. There's definitely some intent in those plays, I'm not going to fool myself just because he's wearing green and white.
having an intent to make a hard tackle is not being "dirty" its playing hard nosed (ie "winning") football. If tackling somebody low is now somehow dirty and tackling somebody high is illegal, why not just get rid of tackling completey from football?
My feelings exactly I just hope we don't have another Kris Jenkins on our hands (Pro Bowl caliber player who can't stay on the field)
I don't think he is a dirty player. He is a player that wants the big hit almost every time, so that will lead to some dirty hits.
This could be very ugly soon though. Eric Smith is going to have to step up his game if he still wants keep his title as the team goon. I think he's the other starter once he comes back from injury.
I just hope he's doing some Yoga at least once a week, so we can keep those muscles and tendons together for the rest of the season........
Landry is incredible to watch and a huge asset for the defense, but I don't think it's a question that if he lays the wood and the ball-carrier or receiver has trouble getting up afterwards, he is going to feel as though he did his job. It's evident in the way he hits. There are tacklers, and there are hitters. David Harris is a tackler, as is Revis, as are a vast number of other quality defenders. Landry is a hitter. That's not a bad thing, or a condemnation of his character, it's just the way he plays the game.
Landry can do whatever he wants because he provided one of the greatest video shots ever when he tackled Brandon Jacobs by getting him to step on his chest and his face.
Thanks for the vid shot.... 1- Landry hit him just below his hip in the thigh region...just happened to be the leg Jackson was running on when he got creamed. FAR from a cheap shot at a player's knees. 2- Jackson was rolling towards the sidelines when Landry hopped up clapping, and Landry was turning away, back towards his team, when Jackson started looking injured. I really don't think Landry knew Jackson had been hurt. 3- Would love to see Landry get a hat trick against NE taking out The Gronk and Hernandez across the middle then taking out Brady on a killer blitz.
Here's a better poll than "is Landry a dirty player?" Who would you rather have patrolling the middle in a Rex Ryan Defense? * Sherry Rhodes * Landry creating terror in any player running over the middle, smashing all who enter including TEs, RBs, WRs, and QBs trying to scramble.
he's on the dirty side of aggressive. He's on the 'roided side of strong. Cricket. There's a nice game.
