Since when is hitting low, dirty? If a guy is running by, you try to dive for their legs to trip them up. There is nothing dirty about that unless you do it to a QB in the pocket.
Going at someone's knees is dirty. I'm not saying he did - I thought he did, but people are saying he didn't so maybe I'm wrong. That's nice until someone decides to retaliate by taking out Sanchez' knee's and we're stuck with #15 at QB.
Seriously, the guy threw a forearm as Jackson's thigh. I'd have a problem if he threw a shoulder at his knees or ankles but a forearm to the thigh isn't exactly a crippling maneuver.
Yep.. Some are acting as though Landry went after the knee. If that were the case, Jackson's season, if not his career, would be in jeopardy.
It's nice to see that the Jets have 2 thumpers back there. Probably since V Green they haven't had a safety that can bring it like Landry and Bell. I just hope Landry can stay healthy. All those years watching a filthy player like Harrison in NE doing all kinds of crap after whistles, under piles, etc, it will be interesting to see the Pat's fans reaction to his style of play...
i didn't watch him much before this season so i have no idea. but i like watching big hits by our safeties that aren't immediately followed by a flag. i still miss you though eric smith. come back soon.
Now I dont want him cheering on injuries but like stated how does he know he actually injured someone; that type of attitude is infectious in will consume our entire team to play better. Everyone will hit and play harder with him flying around laying the wood. He is a great athelete
the shot was close to cheap, it wasnt at the knee but it was barely above it and something i would expect from a guy like cromartie who is a bonafied pussy. i expect a little better out of landry, but he will stop when he takes a knee to the head and gets ko'd. i love that he hits hard, i cant stand that he goes low when he does it and i think he is a douche for clapping the way he did. so yeah i think he is dirty.
I like to bash Smith for his coverage, but I really want to see the Pats try to play that TE passing attack against a 3 safety set with Smith, Landry and Bell out there. It gives Murderer's Row a new meaning.
What I view as dirty is putting a shoulderpad into the side or back of someones knee. Even then its recquired for strong runners and people who refuse to go down till their body gives out. God know how's many awesome broken tackles and maneuvers we've seen from ballcarriers over the years. Anything less than what I just said is simply trying not to be embarrassed on film and making sure the guy is down. Edit:sometimes going low looks dirty. I think ppl forget how fast this game is sometimes and the anquan boldin facebreak is a prime example of anhit not intended to be dirty nailing the right spot and putting people in the spot to get injured.
to be fair, that hit wasn't dirty. it was unfortunate that there was another player getting him low at the same time. but, indeed, landry went too far with a couple hits. hopefully it was just him trying to make a statement in his first game with a new team. i don't like players spending the whole game looking for a homerun hit - and blowing plays in the meantime. play hard and clean.
It will be interesting for sure -- as you point out, the Jets safeties can really lay the lumber, but on the other hand there's real reason to doubt whether any of them can run with Gronkowski or Hernandez. It will basically come down to the pass rush, as these things often do.
Absolutely not. He's a tremendous player who give it his all 24/7, 365. He loves to knock people out. What's wrong with that? That's football. Did he head hunt? No. Did he hit Fred Jackson below the knee? No. He hit him in the THIGH.
