Could the Jets resign him to a new (more trade friendly) but long term contract and then trade him?

If it were for two #1s, who would be for it? (pretty sure this has been discussed here before)

I've been told the Jets are reaching out to teams to acquire a right tackle via trade. Story here: http://tinyurl.com/RTNYDN #nyj

Freeney is useless in a 3-4, with our DL depth we don't need him. Secondly Revis is the best defensive player in the game and will be playing at an elite level for at least 4 more years, and will play for years after that. Freeney is all but done right now.

They don't have a useful OT.

Essentially thats a 1st round pick, a has been and a never-will-be for the best defensive player in football. So in conclusion that would be a steal of a deal for Indy. I'm keeping Revis all day long if thats the best deal on the table.

Like I said before the only way I'm trading Revis to Indy is for Andrew Luck.

    I don't disagree.

Honestly the only way I can see the Jets trading Revis is if they've already made an organizational decision that his next contract is going to be too prohibitive to the rest of the team. If they already know this to be the case then I would hope they shake down some team for several draft picks / useful players.

Otherwise, Revis should be a Jet for life.

I can agree with that. And that decision will NOT come until revis decides to not play under his current deal anymore (AKA next camp). I still expect Revis to be a Jet for life in the end. But until negotiations for a new deal actually begin, there is less than no doubt in my mind Revis is a Jet.

To trade revis right now, i would want no less than 4 first round picks unless I am getting an elite NFL player in return for Revis.

Since no team is insane enough to pay that price, Revis is going to be a Jet.

definitely. The dude is a sure fire HOFer. He has proven he's the best CB of all time. He has competition that has never been seen before. Sanders played he went up against a few great receivers. In today's game, there are sooo many elite receivers that he's shut down. Plus the rules are catered and suited to receivers unlike when Sanders played where he had a lot more freedom. Not only that, but Revis is probably one of the better tackling corners in the league.

Theres 0 chance I would trade Revis for draft picks after the draft. Thats basically throwing this season away. I'd consider it in the offseason if we were to get a great offer.

If they wanted to take him off our hands I wouldn't be opposed to it. Send them Wilson and in return we'll take one of their three rookie TE's, all of whom can block and catch.

Not to turn this thread into a greatest CB ever debate, but I want to see Revis keep it up another 2-3 years. So far he has put himself in the conversation in 5 years. But the best of all-time has to do it for a long time. Deion did that, which is why he is still the best. But if Revis avoids the injury bug and keeps playing the way he has, he will take that from deion.

That said Deion's best season his DPOY year (1994 i believe?) just simply pales in comparison to Darrelle Revis' 2009 season, and it isn't even close.

You wouldnt take 3 number 1's for a corner? Or 2 number 1's and a player?

Draft picks are a crap shoot.
No way I trade a known top commodity, like Revis for a roll of the dice.

Not saying he should be traded but anything less then a top tier player, along with draft picks,is rediculous.

It's hard to trade Revis for picks without getting an overload deal in the process. That's because the picks are so random unless you know exactly where they're slotted and who they are likely to bring.

In the 2012 draft Revis would have been worth roughly the 2 pick plus something. He doesn't have the value of the best QB prospect to come out in the last 5 or 6 years but he clearly has more value than anybody else.

If we'd been in the market for a franchise QB and had come out of a Revis deal with RGIII and a high 2nd round pick I'd have been fine with that. If we'd come out of it with Andrew Luck I'd have been fine with that.

Revis is a great player but he plays a position that you can't tie to championships won very well, whereas both of the prospect QB's have the real chance of leading their teams to championships at some point.

Trading Revis for 2013 picks at this point would require a huge overload in potential value because not only do we not know where those picks lie but we don't even know who they'll be if they are excellent slots.

you guys are also forgetting to take the cap money away. Give me 3 number 1's and have all Revis' salary come off our books, I would walk him on my hsoulders to wherever we send him

Broadway pointed out to me the other day that trading Revis has a lot of penalties so trading him would actually put us in much worse cap situation this year so it basically can't be done.

Revis is not moving. This is ridiculous speculation. There is no way that Rex Ryan, a defensive minded coach, is moving Revis anywhere. No matter what. He is to our defense as Ray Ray was/is to Baltimore. Period.

The discussion about Kyle Wilson could be valid but to quite honest I'd shop Cromartie before I did Wilson. Wilson has more "upside" at this point in his career. Just a thought.

Having said ALL that...this topic will be a moot point if Howard does well on Sunday in the Carolina game and the Philly game. He'll get the 2 to prove himself. If Sanchez's butt checks stay clean then they will not shop anyone of significance. They may look for depth but that's about it.
