 Have you seen him play?

The guy is God Awful. It's not the staff. It's not the system. It's not the receivers. It's HIM. He doesn't miss open receivers by 5 yards because of anyone or anything other than his own shortcomings. In the NFL, you need to fit passes into small windows consistently ... and he misses his targets by margins that are laughable by NFL standards. He's not a good QB and he never will be. I'd bet my life that he'll NEVER finish in the top 20 in QB Rating no matter where he goes to play ... if any team is stupid enough to let him start.

I just watched the Buffalo game again. There had to be at leaat 4 times where Braylon Edwards had his man beat, and had to slam on the brakes to attempt a circus catch on an underthrown ball. Sanchez is a disaster.

Do we need upgrades in other areas? Absolutely.
But make no mistake ... Mark Sanchez is 80% of the problem with this offense. It's next to impossible to win games with the "quality" of play he provides at the most important position on the field. It really is a minor miracle that Rex has managed to post a winning record with this stiff playing QB. It was bound to catch up to us sooner or later, and the chickens have come home to roost.

Sanchez did not take the Jets to 2 straight AFCCG. The Jets took Sanchez to those games. I look at it as without Sanchez, the Jets could've been every bit as good as the Colts were in the regular season thereby getting home field over the Colts. It is pure hyperbole, but given how Sanchez has turned out, I am still sticking with my first opinion, that it was a bone headed idea to trade up for him, and it was the work of a bone headed HC.

SO true. This "he took us to back to back AFCCG's" argument is nothing short of idiotic. Do people actually believe that?? All you need to know about how badly Sanchez holds us back is this ... if not for the Colts laying down in 2009, the Jets would have been the first team in NFL history to miss the playoffs with the #1 defense and #1 running game.

Just imagine what we could have done that year, and the next one as well, if we only had a competent NFL QB.

Wrong. Sanchez played well his first 2 seasons. He regressed AFTERWARDS.

Just an FYI, that guy on the right is Gary Vaynerchuk. He's a multimillion dollar business owner. Owns many web properties and has a huge huge following, hes been on Conan and Piers Morgan a bunch of times. Do a YouTube search for Gary Vaynerchuk.

what you call playing well, is him just being serviceable on a very good team. He was always average, even at his best. I had garbage in there, but I figured I would be generous.

He didn't play well. What do you call "well" ... Rated 27th in the league? Just look at the numbers ... It's no secret. The record is there for everyone to see. He was always less than average, but at least we had the excuse that he was a young QB, and saw some glimpses of hope for the future. He was never good, and now he's worse. Much, much worse. So What are you hoping for? ... that he can somehow improve enough to be just plain bad, instead of completley unplayable? Seriously ... even if he can get better (which I doubt) what kind of improvement can any sane fan realistically expect?

Speaking for myself, I expect my QB to be GOOD.
If you think Sanchez can be a good QB in this league, you're delusional and holding onto something you wish was there, but simply isn't.

Vaynerchuk is a douche. Same guy that wore a LaMont Jordan jersey to Indy in '10.

Actually I think it would be more accurate to say that Sanchez "did not lose" those playoff wins. HIs upside as a QB is to become a "did not lose" QB. Unfortunately he has forgotten how to "not lose" a game.

It will probably take me a year for me to learn how to pronounce that first name.

They only way I would apologize to those two dicksmokers is right after I tossed them bodily into a gorilla cage.

These are the types that helped ruin Mark the last year +, the types that abandon ship at the first sign of hard times. We have a fanbase of quitters and it is embarrassing. Ask 90% of the fans in this league if they'd be ok(not satisfied but ok) w/ 2 title games in 4 years. Now RGIII, Luck, Wilson, last year it was Newton but so far the 4 of them have 1 combined playoff win and that's b/c 2 of them met meanwhile we whine about winning 4 playoff games.

I don't think anybody abandoned ship at the first sign of hard times. Most people on here gave Sanchez plenty of rope. Most people had high hopes that he could be our QB for many years to come.

But now we're all tired of watching him make the same mistakes game after game after game, despite having 4 years of experience under his belt. We're tired of watching him throw away winnable games with inexcusable, bonehead decisions. We're tired of watching our defense bail him out time after time, only to finally succumb to his constant sabotage. We're tired of looking at the QB Ratings and seeing his name at the bottom of the list year after year. We're tired of seeing guys come into the league as rookies and outplay him by laughable margins. We're tired of watching him miss open receivers by 5 yards. We're tired of watching our running game get stuffed because there isn't a single defense in the league that has an ounce of respect for him. We're tired of holding our collective breath every time we see him drop back to pass. We're tired of seeing the ball on the ground every time a defender gets a hand on him. We're tired of listening to him at the podium, saying the same tired, scripted bullshit as the losses mount.

These things don't happen because he's a really good player, who just doesn't have enough help. They happen because he's a TERRIBLE player. Just awful. We've seen more than enough of him by now, to know he isn't an NFL caliber starting QB. Bad mistake by the Jets. It happens. Time to swallow it and move on.

Ask any fan in this league if they would ever want Sanchez to start for their team. What do you suppose 99% of them would say?
Ask all 32 GMs if they'd want to build their franchise around him, and risk their job and reputation on his success. What do you think they'd say?
Ask every player in the league if they would feel confident with him as their leader. What do you think they would say?

There's a good reason why nobody would touch him with a 10' pole.
It isn't because we're all "quitters". It' because because everyone has enough sense to believe what they see on the field ... everyone except you.

I don't care what other fans would want, they don't watch every snap like we do. They don't understand how bad the healthy talent around him was but we do. We all understand he was brutal this year but we all should undrestand his main weapons throughout the year were:

Kerley- #3 or 4 option on most teams
    Schilens- #5 option on most
    Gates- couldn't make the dolphins
    Cumberland- decent backup
    Reuland- good blocker

Assuming Keller is back next opening day could see:

    Hilmes
    Keller
    Edwards
    Kerley
    Hill
    Cumberland

very different, right? and that's w/o any changes we'd be a million times better than this season. It's hard to win in January, we won a lot of games w/ this QB. The talent deteriorated around him and he has been bad but that doesn't mean he will be bad forever.
