Is it a stretch to call next Sunday at Miami a must win?

I don't have that fear. Our defense has changed from last year.
Sparano being the OC would probably be our advantage. A lot of our offensive players could give pointers. I watched the Jets game today and the offense looked eerie similar to our offense last year and the year before that with Sparano and Henne at the helm. Though the Jets dropped a lot of passes today.

I wish for a win but realistic I don't think it will happen.

Sparano wasn't our OC and I didn't really see the similarities you speak of but I guess I could be wrong.

Yes I know what "must win" means. Looking at our schedule after Miami we play two good teams in San Fran and Houston. It's a possibility that we may lose both games to San Fran and Houston. So we need to win the winnable games that's why next week is a "must win" plus we get to go up 2-0 in our division in the process.

No team can be overlooked...most Jet fans proclaimed victory over the Steelers and look what happened.

Any divisional game is a must win. We cannot afford to lose to the Dolphins. We're lucky the Pats lost, otherwise they would be in control.

Every game is a must win, no matter what.

So then you obviously understand that the jets could lose next week and end the season 14-2, right?

    Not a must win.

Win all your home games plus 2 road games and you are in the play offs. It is OK. I think we will match up well against 49ers and Texans. After all is said and done, I expect to be 4-2.

It's an enormous game, for sure. Must win? eh. I just hate endorsing or embracing that phrase in week 3, unless I'm talking about an 0-2 team, and even then, it's a stretch.

I know I'm paraphrasing/quoting Jim Mora, but "Playoffs! Don't talk about Playoffs! The Jets need to win another game!"

except that there is no chance in hell these jets have any chance of being 14-2.

Or they can win next week and end the season 2-14. Brilliant!

Wait a minute, you got SF travelling across the coast (W for Jets) and Houston (tossup) both at home.

You got Tannehill at QB, who seems more fragile when rushed than Sanchez (W for Jets).

It's not inconceivable at all that Jets go into NE with a 3-2 or even a 4-1 record.

Must win? Not by definition, no. I'd say if we lose though it's unlikely we get out better than 2-3 our of the first five games, maybe in 1-4 based on our opponents. Which makes it highly unlikely we make the playoffs IMO.
