Is Edwards choking or panicking when he is wide open?

It's ridiculously magnified because of his reputation as a "dropper". I don't think Edwards has dropped any more passes than Keller this year but he catches (no pun intended) a lot more heat for it.

Anyone who didn't realize Edwards has problems catching the soft touch hasn't been paying attention for a few years. Still, he's actually improved this season. I don't think anyone is or should be as frustrated with him as Browns fans were for 3 seasons. I still hold out hope that a full offseason with proper coaching can correct the problem. Until then, it's probably best to use him properly. One or two deep passes a game, even with a drop or two, opens up the defense underneath.

Keller even dropped one in his grill yesterday. That guy drops passes all over the place.

The Jets gave up too much to rent Edwards. He wants to stay. Keep him for a reasonable amount of money.

On another note, can we please stop this "we need a number one" garbage???????? Who is the Packers #1? Jennings did not have a good year and Driver is old. They just spread it around. Where did Miles Austin come from? Colston is a good receiver, but the Saints also spread it around. Who is the Vikings #1? Rice? Who the hell was he until this season??? The #1 receiver stuff is a bunch of crap. If you put Cotchery on the Colts or Saints or Packers he would put up huge stats. A receiver's stats are as much a function of the offense and the QB as anything. The Jets receivers don't have gaudy numbers because the Jets are a run first conservative team. Besides, it takes three years for receivers to develop. The Jets don't have the time to invest three years in a receiver right now. This team has far far greater needs.

The funny thing was when they cut to him on the sidelines after the big miss, and the trainer is looking at his arms.

I fully expected them to start rolling double-sided tape over his forearm area.

Who is still saying we need a #1? That need ended as soon as we picked up Edwards. Regardless of whether he leads the team in receptions, yards, or TDs, he fills that role and allows Cotchery to be one of the better possession receivers in the league, a position that better suits this offense's gameplan than a true #1 like Edwards does.

It's a mental thing. 10 to 15 years of intensive psychotherapy should cure it.
