I understand why you would eliminate the longest run, a running back is judged by their consistency

All of these crappy games are blending together for me.

No - I never wanted them to draft ZW (and said so on here) but there is a big difference between Hall (who has the potential to be very good but who needs help from the O-line and better playcalling) and Wilson (who never looked like putting it together)

    Agree 100%

There are free DL on the RB behind the line of scrimmage WAY too often

    Our OL coach sucks ass

my take? he's not an elusive runner.

he's fast and big. but he does not possess that elusiveness that REALLY good RBs have. Mixon is more elusive.

Freeman used to work miracles to turn an almost loss into a 3 yd gain.

There were 2 or 3 times last night where I was like, how the hell did he only get 3 or 4 yds out of t6hat? cos he had blockers and space.

Yeah that’s an interesting take. I thought someone earlier in the thread had said he didn’t think he had good vision, but I don’t agree with that at all…I think he does have good vision and will often make cuts to get into open space, plant his foot and turn upfield, etc.

So to me, I don’t think it’s a vision problem per se.

But this comment on elusiveness is interesting…watching him run with that in mind does kind of point out that he is not elite in this trait. I think you’re right.

I think he’s big, he’s fast, he has good vision, but to me, his two flaws are that he doesn’t always look like he’s running as hard as he could (stepping out of bounds last week instead of putting his shoulder down to try and knock a guy out to get a TD is an example), and then once he gets into some of these tighter spaces, he’s not elite in elusiveness…he’ll get what’s there and if he can slide and get more he does, but it’s not like a Barry Sanders type elusiveness. And when he gets DL in the backfield he gets tackled more often than not.

    Good call out.

Still…given all that, I do think he’s a very good back and a potential home run hitter on any given play.

I was a hard pass on Derrick Henry coming out of college for that very reason. I saw big and straight line speed, but no wiggle, lateral movement or elusiveness. Despite that, he’s still been able to put together a HOF career somehow.

There were games when he had no where to run much of the time. he also has fumbles way too much. He does however have a lot of talent, which ultimately will show out, IMO.
