So all those tweets that we get fed on the training camp thread that say Bell has done this and Bell has done that etc who is the writer of these because until the hamstring incident there has been nothing bad written or posted by Bell at all Kinda makes you wonder what is the point of those beat writers tweeting tbh Of course, that's if this guy is telling us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Think I will go vote for my usual 4-12 option right about now then.
He was a elite player in Pittsburgh can't blame the Jets for paying him. Something possibly happened to his skills during the almost two years layoff last game as a Steeler to his time here. It's a cautionary tale for the opt outs and the media whining about why Kaepernick isn't in the league. These players have to stay sharp or they could lose their skills. I don't view Bell like I do Mosley. I view Mosley as a merc who got paid with no real intention of delivering and who's now saving himself for his next contract. To me he's disgusting. Bell wants to earn his money, he wants to give the Jets what they're paying him for but IF he has hit the wall he can't start fighting with the coach become a divisive presence in the locker room. And let's not forget the Jets have two recent HOF that were aquired in free agency Martin & Mawae. Free agency can work. Bell has the mindset of a Curtis Martin but does he still have the skills? I would take a chance on Clowney too because of Gregg Williams. The Patriots take a guy like him and make a Super Bowl run with him. The Jets have this holier than thou attitude noooo we're too good for OBJ. Can't deal with his nonsense. Meanwhile they haven't won jack since 1969. Forget Super Bowl when was the last time the Jets won a division title? 18 frickin' years ago!! Think about that. Someone that was born back in 2002 is now legally a adult. But no no no we can't have OBJ coming here tarnishing this great thing we've got going here. LOL No doubt in my mind the Patriots who've pretty much known nothing but winning since the turn of the century would trade for him if the price were right because they want to win.
Bell sat out an extra year and a half because he didn't get paid like he wanted to. He left $14.5 million guaranteed on the table when he did so. How is he not a mercenary? Why haven't the Pats made a move for OBJ yet?
To me a merc is a player who's only here for the payday with no real intention of delivering or caring if he does. A Enunwa, a Mosley, Trumaine Johnson, a Matt Forte are a few examples of what I consider mercs. Bell is putting in the work here, he wants to deliver on the contract he signed but he might be done.
Forte backed out of an offer with the Packers to come here (God only knows why) and ran his legs into the ground until he had nothing left as a Jet. So that's a bad example.
I didn't think Forte was anything special in Chicago. I hated that signing because it took the ball out of Powell's hands who was such a key player for the Jets down the stretch in 2015. I don't think Bowels or the Jets forgave Powell for missing week 17 2015. Back to Forte he came up lame (conveniantly for him) early in both training camps with the Jets and missed most if not all of both training camps with the Jets. He was too good for training camp with the Jets and flat out sucked on gamedays. To me he's a merc. Bell on the other hand is putting in the work here but he might be done. His spirit is willing I won't deny that.
??? Idk what games you guys were watching last year but I saw Bell creating something out of nothing almost every time he touched the ball. Our OL was so terrible he had to be magical to pick up a yard or two. Now he's back in better shape with a hopefully improved OL and everyone wants to slander him and kick him out the door?? No wonder no one wants to play here. He's said all the right things, been a real leader, and on a team devoid of offensive talent is easily one of our top weapons and half the fan base wants to trade him jfc
So this is all based on Brian Costello's view of what he sees at training camp? What the fuck? Bell was slow last year which I believe had a lot to do with his year off from football, an entirely new offense, and our piss poor offensive line. He looks like he is in excellent shape right now and all I have read prior to this article is how he is due to explode this year. In fact, Gore was saying something very similar about him recently. I don't get this at all
Not everyone. Only a few. I don't think the fan base has anything to do with players not wanting to come here in the past. I agree with the bold except the last bit about half the fan base wants to trade him. You're exaggerating. Take a deep breath.
Yes, he admitted that he wasn't in very good shape last year, or very good, and said it wasn't the OL's fault or Gase's.
Anyone with two eyes saw how bad the line was. It is awesome seeing Bell take the blame and not throw it on someone else. We all know the line had A LOT to do with his struggles
The jets seriously the only team that can’t get starting RB on their own via draft or UDFA - like 31 other teams can do. Curtis, Thomas Jones, LT, Chris Ivory, Matt Forte, Isaiah Crowell, Bell - next they will sign Philip Lyndsay or someone.
