Ironically, I'm about to wipe my ass with a printout of this thread and drop it in the toilet bowl

Woody didn't "make" his fortune. His father made it for him and handed it down to him.

If Petty plays at the end of the season and plays well, things suddenly could change. With Mac adding good young talent, and being adept at handling the salary cap, the Jets could suddenly look appealing to a potential HC.

How many hundreds of millions does it take to get a guy who is already making tons of cash at a guaranteed permanent cake walk job to take a mega-stressful 90+ hour a week job where everyone on earth will question their every decision and that has almost no chance of lasting 10 years? Not to mention, neither of them can do much to IMPROVE his legacy at this point. Actually, if somebody is dumb enough to make that switch for any amount, I don't think they'll make any good decisions on the field, either.....

Now everyone wants Dak. During the Draft I saw nobody on this board clammoring for us to draft him.

Not everyone. Those same people clamoring for Dak now will be denying it when he flops later, and they'll be claiming they loved Petty and/or Hack when they have developed and are playing well.

As I said,it's his jobs to have the team ready to play each week.
It's the general manager's job to get players who can perform to their highest level.

    So far...both have failed.
So if Woody is looking to make changes, they both should go in my opinion.

    You can't be serious.
Rex's defense in Buffalo is similar to the Jets and until last weekend, was underperforming.
I don't buy that at all.

Those teams were better than the Jets.
Some of you guys just had an overinflated sense of this team.
    They are not that good....

We cant give up on making the Jets a winning franchise...maybe at the 50 year mark from our last SB will be our Golden Jamboree

The pressure is now on Mac to solve this I think he is smart enough to do this

He has to realize Bowles has no clue...look at all the mistakes hes made

Gut says to get Jon Gruden Guy is a tenacious bulldog to accomplish things imo

Macs biggest blunder was Mevi$ The only thing DR can cover is the checks he writes for the next 100 years

Mac hasn't failed. That's absurd! Everyone with any knowledge of the team at all knows that the cupboard was bare when Mac was hired. Tanny's constant trading up, and Idzik's incompetence, had left almost no depth and lots of holes in the starting lineup. We all knew that it was going to take more than 1 or 2 off-seasons to rebuild the roster and even begin to addressing the needs and holes on the team. He has made great trades for vets, signed quality FAs, and has done an excellent job with the draft. The team has better depth, better starters, better speed and talent. From that perspective, things look more optimistic and hopeful for the Jets than they have since Parcells was here.

The GM gets talent. It's the HC's and CS's job to develop that talent, utilize schemes that takes advantage of that talent and put them into a position to succeed. Mac is doing his job. Bowles isn't. That's clear and obvious. GTFO with Mac isn't doing his job.

They beat two teams every bit as good as the teams we lost to. That's not my advocating for Rex's competence just a fact.

Pettine is 10 times the DC we have now. It's a hell for f a start.

Given our overpaid but lackluster secondary and terrible quarterbacks, I have a hard time blaming Bowles for this season's problems (though he's certainly not perfect). Unless the wheels come completely off in Rich Kotite-fashion, I'd say keep Bowles, if only so that the most desirable head coaching candidates see Woody as a patient owner if and when Bowles absolutely has to replaced.

I will agree with half of your statement about it's the coach's job to develop the talent and he and his staff are supposed to put the team in the position to win.
And I think I will backtrack on calling for the GM to be fired.
Let's just say the jury is still out.

One of my issues with Bowles is that we never close games out well when we are supposed to. We never stomp on a team when they are down. When we actually do win, we don't know how to finish and we let teams hang on.

This year we should have beaten Buffalo 37-17, instead they made it interesting and would have won with another TD (because he didn't go for 2). Last year in London we were crushing Miami and we took our foot off the gas and gave them some life. We had the chance to go up 14-0 right out the gate against Cinci this year and we played conservative.

Not only that, but we almost always get off to a slow start. I thought for sure we were going to lose that Giants game last year. Barely beat a bad cowboys team the next week, had to win at the last minute.

What does this guy do good? Where are his strong points?

When was the last time a Jets team closed out an opponent? This team just doesn't do that very often..

Bowles seems to like the prevent defense when we are up which is nauseating and reminiscent of Mangini.

and Herm... and Rex.. I think the last Jet HC with an killer instinct was Bill Parcells. Then again, he was the last Jets HC who had actually been an HC before he took the Jets job.

Knew this was coming. People were happy to have the opposite of rex when he got here now they want a passionate fiery guy. When that guy sucks they'll want a quiet stern guy and on and on....

What I want is STABILITY. Not constant flux. I'm not saying he's done the greatest job but I'm for suffering thru some down times to stabilize the franchise if for no other reason than to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY. Under woody we've gone from coach to coach. Doing the same thing expecting different results.
