Do you think in this current t form Sam is stupid enough to demand a 30m+ contract? Then again he might as it will hasten his departure to a team that may help him succeed.
He has to have one more year with an actual chance to succeed, if we have some weapons and he bombs out then we will be a high pick again and say hello to a new potential FQB

I haven't seen him play so I won't comment whether he's a "can't miss" sure thing - as I become convinced Mahomes was - but you need to look beyond pure stats and W/L records at the guy himself. Does he possess exceptional arm strength? Is he accurate from the pocket AND on the move? Does he show he can take advantage of what the defense gives him, rather than just go with the designed play (I know, almost impossible to know, but you can derive this often when plays break down and he HAS to improvise)? Does he never give up, no matter what the scoreboard says? These are some of the qualities I believe every great QB has. In Mahomes, he had these in spades. In contrast, Lamar Jackson had all but his accuracy was a little iffy. With Watson, he had them all except the exceptional arm strength (good, but not great arm strength). With Darnold he had them all, except not Mahomes-level arm and accuracy.

I'm looking forward to watching tape of Lawrence to see how he stacks up, but at this point I'm still of the belief that Darnold has the tools, but what's really holding him back is coaching and surrounding talent. If Lawrence has Mahomes-level attributes, then I would say draft him if you get the chance, ideally having him compete with Darnold for the job. But if he doesn't have that level of talent, I'd consider a boatload of picks in return for the pick.

We were absolutely terrible last year, and won 7 games! That is why we are stuck with Gase another year.

I thought only game we were good was against Dallas, and should have lost that one. Lucky.

All of those teams mentioned are saying “ we have the JETS, very winnable game” and they are better then the jets

No doubt about that, that is same as last year when we pulled of 7 miracles. Lol. We COULD win 6 games. That said we could well go winless...

I stated this before. Management is the most important part of an NFL Franchise

The top rated, winning GMs and Coaches get the most out of players who have varying degrees of talent, plus they have to draft near the bottom ever year>> look at Bellichek A Reid S Payton etc

Was Nick Foles a great QB ? Was he a lot better than Wentz? Not really. But he won Phil a Super Bowl

Dont forget guys that the common denominator over the last 10 years for Jets ineptness has been poor drafting and very poor coaching including our current knuckle head Gase

Trevor L would learn/progress as much as Sam D...actually probably regress like Darnold if you ruin the guy with poor coaching. play calling and no one to throw to who doesn't have stone hands lol

So please Johnsons get rid of this Coach ..first!!

Or allow him to bootleg on 4th and one when the play brakes down.

We are the only sad franchise that makes fans famous and our mascots....I would rather we put some dude in a fluffy green costume and have him run around the stadium doing a bad comedy routine.

I think its different if we can draft one of them at the pick versus trading up. We shouldnt trade up unless Sam looks more like week 1 for the rest of the season. I think the real interesting debate is if we were in a position to draft one of the 1st round QBs and got a trade offer, how much draft capital would we have to get back to make the trade worth it?

For me we would need a essentially the Colts deal where we get 3 2nd rounders or better for a slight trade down. If we were to move farther back to say the 15th or later then we would need probably an additional 1st, a second, and next year's second at a minimum. We could be looking at 3 1sts in 2022 if we kept Sam so thats something to ponder.

Wasn't Sam Darnold involved in the HC interview process before the 2019 season? I'm pretty sure everyone who interviewed for the job had to speak to Darnold and they weighed his opinions on each candidate. If I recall correctly he raved about Gase. I'm too lazy to look it up right now this moment, but if Gase was the guy Sam wanted, then he's partially responsible for the hire..

Look - this isn’t hard to understand - you get a new QB unless Sam proves to be a sure fire top 10 QB this year if you have a top 3 pick. The reason is the salary cap - Lawrence for sure, but if any of these 3 are at parity with Sam, you take them and have 3 years of cap savings while you rebuild. The bonus are the picks you get for Sam.

Again - if Sam blows up you don’t get a QB.
If Lawrence is available for the Jets - it’s honestly a no brainer - b/c I think he’s better and will be significantly cheaper (plus you get those picks for trading Sam’s rights and you have an add’l #1 + from the Adams trade)

How much do you really think you'll get for Sam? You gave up 3 2s to get him. You aren't getting that back in a trade. Maybe a late 1 or 2, but nothing more.

The way Darnold's looking, we ain't getting that. Maybe someone throws a 4th rounder our way for "potential"

Darnold's got 394 yards total in 2 games. And we watched those games, most of those yards were in garbage time. Josh Allen threw for 417 and 4TDs just last week

Everyone with a brain and set of functional eyes knows that Darnold is talented but also knew three years ago when we drafted him that he needed to be coached up. What did we do? We hired one of the worst offensive coaches in the league and gave Sam this:

What are there two guys on that list that are on an active NFL roster right now? Embarrassing, yet not surprising. This has been a failure from the top down.
