Here's Rex Ryan's response to all this. Pettine is such a fuckin idiot: Ryan on whether Pats have playbook: "It's disrespectful to New England to sit back and say they did this." Ryan is annoyed with Mike Pettine. "I don't understand what he's trying to gain by it." The idea that Nick Saban betrayed him by giving a playbook to Pats? "I don't think that's a fair assessment of who Nick Saban is," Ryan. "It's in a bad spot right now," Ryan said of his relationship with Pettine. Ryan on PlayBookGate: “To discredit somebody like Belichick, who is a real coach, studies his butt off is ridiculous.”
I think Pettine better make the most of his stay w/the Browns because it could very well be his last opportunity.
If you want to take Rex Ryan's defense of himself for gospel then that's one way to see things. Pettine, another HC now didn't seem to think it was ridiculous to think it had any effect on games, in fact he seemed quite upset about it. Belichick was questioned about it and played coy - if it didn't have any effect, it seems like he would've just said that, idk. Also - if it doesn't have any effect than why don't coaches just share play books with everyone then? it obviously has some effect. Even if it's not real advantageous it's still a pretty stupid thing to do
He's not making any friends for sure, but I think he's going to be a good coach so it might not matter. I thought he was a only a coattail rider of Rex until I read Collision Low Crossers and it opened my eyes. He seems to be both a bright defensive mind (probably less than Rex) but more detail oriented and less loyal to a fault than Rex which will help him. Manziel is a wild card though, if Pettine runs into a buzz saw of killer turnovers from Manziel and a meddling owner who won't let him bench the kid - it will be an ugly for him.
I get the feeling this is something that looks really bad to people outside the biz but for those in it, it's really not that big a deal.
If the above scenario played out I doubt too much of the blame could be put on Pettine. as long as their defense does what it's capable of. If Manziel implodes and he gets kicked out of Crazy Town - hey that could happen to anyone there. Personally I don't hate on Pettine as much as a lot of people. The guy talked too much (in a front office that did nothing but talk) about how Tebowmania was a total clusterfuck (which it absolutely was). He was stuck at the ceiling here and got frustrated when it turned into a loony bin...shit that sounds like half the jobs I've ever had.
I've had it with Pettine. From his antics of feeding the media with things that should have been kept in-house (anonymous sources) to him snitching and putting out this to the media is ridiculous. Snitches get stitches! I'll leave it at that.
Is this normal procedure? That's what Id like to know. do people give out playbooks? Also waiting for Falco to come back and admit he was wrong and perhaps he's a retard?
Pettine was better as Rex's puppet. He needs to shut the fuck up and get out of football at this point. Either that, or go be somebody's bitch again.
"An Alabama spokesman told NJ.com in an email, "The playbook coach Ryan gave coach Saban is in his office. Coach Saban didn't send a playbook to anyone and wouldn't do so under any circumstance.""
I don't believe it's a normal procedure. I know it's definitely not one with players anyway. When they are cut or traded they aren't allowed to leave the facility until they give back their playbook.
Pettine will be a good HC because he pays attention to details. Maybe he will give Rex a job after he is canned. It's a fraternity.
You're trying to backpedal because you played your usual homer gag and shamed anyone for believing the story. Face it, you look like a tard for that first post in this thread.
Lmfao I'm not back peddling shit. I said if you morons believe that he "gave them out like candy" you're an idiot. Which is exactly what I said. You seem to look like a dumbass in every thread you post in so I wouldn't go around calling people dumbass. Sharing it with a friend of his is not what I was talking about. I was referring to his quote of "handing them out like candy"
