When you win 13 games in back to back seasons, and a Super Bowl, with your second team it's hard to retire

Any one notice, that on the sideline, it's always Brett Ratliffe chatting up Favre....

Clemens could be the odd man out here....

Cassell, to me, is another Scott Mitchell during the time Marino tore his achilles and Mitchell came in and played pretty well. The folks down here were begging the Fins to keep him and let him battle Marino when he came back. Mitchell proved to be a fraud, just ask Detroit fans.

I personally believe that Brady would retire before he'd ever become a Jet. Kind of like seeing Chipper as a Met. No way. No how. There are just some guys that could never play for a rival.

Yeah, I've heard the Scott Mitchell comparison thrown around quite a bit and I tend to agree. Another one is Rob Johnson, remember him? He was a real solid backup for the Jaguars before Buffalo paid him a King's ransom to be their starter. The rest is history. Take Cassell away from the Patriots' system and I believe he is an average QB at best.

Cassell will not be worth a bag of dung until he learns to throw the ball to the outside portions of the field. He is terribly inaccurate outside and deep.

    Think aJeff Hostetler type....

I see the same thing. If Ratliff can learn and be like Rodgers, i'm not complaining.

I've seen Clemens talk to Ratliff after Ratliff talked to Favre. Maybe he's getting double the intangibles lesson since he's hearing from the future savoir what the current savoir said.

no way i would want anything to do with tom brady. he is a great qb but he is also a tool of immense proportions.

fact is new england isnt fairing too badly without him.

fact is matt cassel really is not very good. seriously if you watched the game last week do you think he can lead a team? i sure dont. NO NO NO NO deep ball whatsoever and hit or miss on the short stuff.

however someone will surely pay him more money than he is worth but then again this guy hasnt started since high school so i would think thats already the case being that he has a contract right now.

Who knows with Cassel, he can just as easily be the next Derek Anderson as much as he can be a star, but he'll get his chance somewhere. I'm thinking the Vikings possibly, they're pretty desperate for a QB. Although they would be better off with someone with an arm to stretch the field and give Peterson room to run. He's still better than what they got though thats for sure

Matt Cassell is terrible. he is leading an offense that was the highest scoring in NFL history last year, of course he is going to look decent at times with the weapons he has at his disposal.

The only reason Pats would let Brady go is if his knee is totally pooched. Therefore, why would we sign a QB who's knee is a major issue?

    Exactly my point (posted earlier).

NFL QBs who have had major reconstructive knee surgery don't usually do very well after they try to make a comeback. (i.e. Caron Palmer, Daune Culpepper, Donavan McNabb, Joe Namath, etc. etc.)

They never come back as the same player as they were before the surgery.

McNabb looks to have regained form but it took a while.

Well, his team's current record certainly doesn't reflect that.
For cryin' out loud-- they tied with the Bengals yesterday.
If that doesn't show you how the mighty Eagles have fallen, I don't know what will.

I hear you but I was referring to McNabb's individual performance this season not his team's. He's putting up good numbers and looks like a franchise QB to me; last year he wasn't as mobile from the injury.

If Brady isn't ready to go this is exactly what will happen. If there is any question that Brady will be ready to go when FA opens the Pats will still Franchise Cassel.

If Brady recovers fully, they can still trade Cassel. There are a lot of teams dumb enough out there for them to get quite a bit. Even if Brady is ready to go, they might still Franchise Cassel for the draft picks

The Patriot FO would have to be HIGH AS HELL to let Brady go. Cassell is good but his two best games came against the Jets Pass D.

The kid cannot complete any passes over 20+ yards.

That would be as dumb as the Jets in the '07 season after being shellacked in the previous postseason by the Patriots, thinking we could stand pat with the team we had and making small modifications to our team.

    Remember how that turned out?

Brady is the man in New England.

They will either sign Cassell to an extension or let him go to FA, but NO WAY they let Brady go free.

    That would be plain RE-TARD-ED.
