And if Cowher already has the job and Mangini already has the Cleveland job which will guarantee him a raise and an extension it's pretty much a win win for both of them and none the wiser.
Look, I'm only 25, so I've only been a fan for 15 years. But when it comes to this team and this league, I'm a realist. You should thumb down the entire NFL and see what teams have held onto their coaches after dwelling in mediocrity.
Yeah I'm a little worried. Cowher would be ideal but if we don't get him I don't know if there's anyone out there I'd like.
But hey, look at the bright side. We still have Favre the relic who can't learn a new playbook and makes worst decisions than Testaverde but is about the same age more or less. lol That way Woody the prickly johnson can sell some psl's and merchandise. He still gets his money and to hell with the team and it's future. He doesn't care if you just plug and play another coach in there just as long as the revenue flow from Favre keeps coming in. That's what's important. For this reason I hope at some point people throw the effin' Favre jerseys in his goddamn face!!! This last move made Woody look a lot like Dolan who only gives a crap about money. I'm telling you, the only hope we have is for Favre's shoulder to be so messed up that he needs surgery. Even though alotta people can't see it now it would be a blessing in disguise.
1. Thank you sir. 2. Very well, but theirs factors here...for Miami...no one gets better first year results than Parcells...for Baltimore...that team was and is loaded with talent...Billick just sucked as a HC IMO. The alot more is money. Mangini is now an unpopular coach to the fans. Fans buy the tickets. If fans don't like the coach, they aren't going to buy as many tickets. Theres gotta be more than that...I expect he did get an "if you don't win, you're out" talk...but I expect money is the largest factor here. You are a much wiser man when it comes to this stuff...and I don't disagree at all. I hope we get our new HC wrapped up. I'll be excited for Jets football again next year as usual...especially if Mr. New Guy is someone just as young, hungry, an intelligent as our last coach was. That way when this same story line plays out, I can know I'm right and really just dip on the Jets.
It isn't important enough to get so upset over. I'm a big Mangini supporter, insofar as I like the guy and wish him well. Sadly being a nice guy with good ideas isn't enough if there isn't visible progress. The last 5 games have been abysmal, for all that I wanted to look on them positively as they went by and I clung to the hope that we'd get there. I hope Eric goes on to succeed in the future and is happy doing so. I hope the Jets go on to win some big games and ideally a championship or two. There are never any guarantees of that though, so we sit and we watch and we make the best of what comes. That's the life of a sports fan.
Right. However, I have to say I'm confused by keeping the Coordinators. If Cowher and the Jets have been in clandestine talks and have "agreed" to something, then wouldn't that mean the Coordinators should go too? I can't see him wanting to keep Sutton, even if he wants everyone else. This train of thought makes me think maybe Cowher isn't aboard.
I was thinking about that. Mangini would work very well in Cleveland IMO. They're not too different from us, except their offense is worlds more talented. If Cowher comes here..well then all will be well in my world.
Well we know at least one thing about our owner, he's a real Jets fan. Only a Jets fan would fire a young, talented coach in the heat of the moment the night after a disappointing season. Only a Jets fan would be so convinced that, sure, Cowher doesnt want to coach this season, but well land him. And like the rest of us Jets fans, Woody will be pissed when we end up with somebody else's retreads, and get to spend another year watching Favre turn the ball over. Firing Mangini wasnt exactly indefensible, losing 4 of 5 down the stretch after the games we won was about as bad a collapse as you can imagine. But whether it was a good call or not really depends on who was backing this Favre nonsense and who wasn't. If bringing him in was Mangini's call, I agree with the move. If Woody fired Mangini because he failed to coach Favre, a player he didn't want, up to Woody's expectations, then Woody's an ass. If we end up bringing some asskisser in whos dedicated to the philosophy of Favre's right arm, I'll probably just skip watching the Jets next season altogether. I guess what Im saying is, I can see how the move might make sense, but we dont have the facts to know, really. All in all, about the most disappointing 6 months in franchise history if you ask me, I felt pretty damn good about this team the day before we brought in #4. If only they'd never printed those Madden covers with Favre in a Jets uni, because its pretty clear the curse hit the team, not the man.
It seems so. I feel so naive lol. I root for the Cubs and the Jets...two of the biggest losers in sports....you'd think I'd stop thinking these businessmen care about their business winning championships when the real bottom line is their businesses making money. Oy...and I want to work in this shit...
Well if it happens, then there's no reason their Offense should stall. And we'll be able to see what he does with their D.
He deserves a good DC. But his Defensive track record ain't all that great. His playcalling was overtaken his last year with the Pats because the players wanted to be more aggressive. Then here, he seemed to be A-OK with Sutton's prevent D. So when does Mangini take the blame?
Gentlemen, Who picks players for the Jets organization? Owners and General Managers will never fire themselves; job security don't you know. What is the difference between the Jets organization and lets say.... Pittsburgh, New England, Denver? Mangini does not throw a pass, block, or play defense. Make no mistake about it, I was pissed about Mangini standing on the sidesline showing no emotion as his team played garbage ball over the last 5 weeks. However, this team has a history of doing this. I have been a Jets fan since 1980....we still haven't won a big game. I believe we probably should have kept Mangini and shook up the front office. Until we make a significant change at the top, i.e., someone who can consistently evaluate talent and get them to play for the Jets, will it matter who is the coach. Remember we had Bill Parcells and still choked away the AFC title. Our beloved Jets have not had a stud defense that can tackle in like....forever! Almost every game I watch I am on the edge of my seat because no lead is secure. We need an outstanding passrusher, a #1 stud receiver, and some linebackers who can tackle people hard! Let's stop trying to be cute in the draft and start going after some real talent. I will say we have done a good job in the offensive line. Also Revis is a stud. But we have got to get a professional defense who can tackle someone. Damn I am frustrated.... J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets!
I never knew that- then its Mangini's fault 100%. Sutton is still a bitch for having the same philosophies.
I think it was a horrible move.. But they must know more than we do.. Finally he got the personnel he needed for his defense.. They fell apart.. That cost him his job.. They were out coached after their 8-3 start... So he deserved to go.. You can see it by the way they played... in order for the Jets to be successful is hire a coach and stick with him.. Look at Andy Ried in Pa and Brian Billeck before he got waxed... His teams were always competitive.. Now they need to find a coach who will use a 3-4.. And then bring in dept to help when Jenkins wears down.. Ellis and Coleman must go... I like Cowher... They must have some one interested in the job in not.. They wouldn't have fired him...
Word. Maybe by the 20th coaching change we can get a REAL coach in here...one with the magic powers of one who has delved into the arts of coaching...
