Anything under four weeks and I'm very optimistic about this defense especially once Coples returns. A mid-season return and I feel as if his overall development was slowed down but a season ending injury (worst case scenario) and I believe our defensive potential/ability takes a major hit along with Coples himself being dealt with a major blow (moving forward).

I'd love for Coples to return heading into NE's week two game, which means it wasn't that serious of an injury. But not at the expense of a further injury to Coples himself (by rushing him back too soon). Week 5 is a great goal for me as a fan right now, meaning we must contend without Coples during the first four weeks. Anything sooner than that and I'm very relieved and excited for this defense.

NE game is always important but I no longer fear their entire offense outside of Brady any longer. I don't believe Tom Brady's offensive production/ability will be anywhere near what it was last year without the likes of Gronkowski and Hernadnez as deadly pass catching TE's, Welker working the slot, Lloyd (who put up 74 receptions for 911 yards) on the outside along with Woodhead catching out of the backfield.

Man, I couldn't care less how great Tom Brady has always been (and still is) that's a combined 338 receptions, 3,984 receiving yards and 29 TD's between five players in which won't be there come week two.

338 of Brady's 401 completions, 3,984 of Brady's 4,827 passing yards and 29 of Brady's 34 TD's from last season are being replaced by completely brand new players. Gronk, Hernandez, Welker, Lloyd and Woodhead were by far Brady's top 5 pass catching options/weapons. None of the above will be present against our Jets.

I'm sorry but I just don't fear the likes of Daniel Fells (TE), Michael Hoomanawanui (TE), Julian Edelman (WR), Kamar Aiken (WR) and Danny Amendola as I did Gronkowski (TE), Hernandez (TE), Welker (WR), Lloyd (WR) and Woodhead (RB).

This isn't a knock on Tom Brady nor his greatness. But everything to do with his supporting cast. If people think our Jets are the only offense in which has lots of question marks, we wouldn't have to look far because NE also has so many concerns and offensive question marks. Brady or not. I don't think Coples not being there come week two is a game ending injury for our Jets defense.

I've been trying to follow this story closesly online. Coples health overall, to me, is our biggest offseason story. Or currently should be. It's now early Thursday, but what ever happened to his medical procedure on his right ankle in which was suppoed to take place this past Tuesday? That's pretty much the last I've heard (of meaning) outside of being out indefinitely with an ankle injury...

I agree that this is a huge offseason story, the biggest story for the Jets injury-wise.

We will find out how serious the injury is when the regular season starts. If Coples is dealing with a catastrophic injury then he will be on the injured reserve list (worst case scenario). If he's going to miss a ton of time (6+ weeks), he'll be on the PUP list, and if he's just going to miss 1 - 3 weeks he'll be on the regular roster.

Normally it takes 6 - 8 weeks to recover from a hairline fracture in your ankle, but I don't know if it's less for elite athletes. If it doesn't heal properly because you go running before it is healed, it doesn't heal properly and then causes you problems the rest of your life, so it is better for him NOT to rush back to play. If he misses the first 6 weeks that will hurt us, but it's better than him ruining his ankle by coming back too early.

I hope he's okay and ready to rock early this year.

It's just a little frustrating how the only thing we've heard that's official is, that Quinton Coples is out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Nothing new since then.

Does he or doesn't he need Surgery?

Is he or isn't he out 3-4 weeks?

And howcome we haven't heard a word about his medical procedures in which was supposed to take place this past Tuesday? It's now Friday.

Maybe I'm worried too much about this specific situation, it's just that I believe we have a top 3 defensive team on our hands this up coming season. But without our pass rushing force in Coples, it's hard to imagine a truly great defense.

Stop sweating it. The guy has a hairline and the most positive outlook is that he is having a screw inserted to:

    1) quicken his return

    and

    2) stabilize the fracture

This happened years ago with another Jets defensive player and I can't find the mention for the life of me.

I hope he takes the time to fully heal before he comes back. I would love to have him and prefer to have him playing but I don't think he is THAT big a blow to our defense where it would cost us games

    Bump
What's the latest on our 295lb OLB?
His missing presence will be embarrassingly noticeable as i don't see much rush coming from anywhere (including Mo, Shel or barnes)

I think the Jets are going to start and do what Pats do when it comes to injuries. That why I also think we haven't heard much about Sanchez.

I was reading thejetsblog and it said Coples is riding a stationary bike. That sounds like good news to me.

I think the pats game is unlikely because its a short week after the Bucs...but game 3, I feel we should see Coples.

Yea they made him pretty bad in coverage too, almost unusable.

Hopefully when they update the rosters we'll see his ratings spike.

    I traded him

He's useless at an OLB and you can't change positions unless you just put him as a DE on the depth chart

He's pretty good as a pass rushing 3-4 OLB though. Manually use him and bull rush lmao

    3-2-6

    Coples, Shelly, Wilk
    Davis, Harris
    Cro, Berry, Wilson, Milner
    Landry Allen

Can also sub in Barnes as DE and Coples in place of Davis and Blitz him...pretty sick
