How the hell did the Colts, Steelers and Bengals all win at the last second!? Jeebus! So much for catching any of them. Looks like Luck is the real deal, though. They might just finish at 10-6.

Simply put, we need to become Cowboy fans for the next two weeks. They play Pitt and Cincy back to back.

It could happen. Steelers aren't good this year and Cincy is a 50/50 game.

But then again we have to beat the Jaguars and the Titans.

True. I think we can pull it off. Especially if Rex makes the right decision.

Here's how I look at it.

If one of them gets a loss next week, that's excellent.

Both of them getting a loss is better.

That way, when they play each other, there is an assurance that one of them will do no better than 9-7.

Both of them losing would be the best, but you can look at all the scenarios for other teams but the one thing that's important is that the Jets have to win their last four games and they should all be winnable (Jags, Titans, Chargers and Bills).

After playing around with the ESPN Playoff Machine (http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine), it appears that if the Steelers, Bengals, and Jets all finish 9-7, the Steelers get the final WC spot. So I think the Jets really need PIT or IND to go 1-3 (the Colts could, since they play Houston twice, but one is week 17 when the Texans will have the division wrapped up and will probably rest starters. That last-second win today really hurt the Jets. If Big Ben comes back it's very, very tough to envision the Steelers losing more than two games).

    Realistic possibility with Indy.

I think it's also realistic that Cincy doesn't make the playoffs.

I think we sneak in this year.

Let's all become Cowboy fans for two weeks :p. That is the most important thing as they play Pitt and Cincy.

Probably want to make sure that the Ravens start winning as well.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right. According to this website:

    6th Seed - Pittsburgh
Wins tie break over NY Jets based on head-to-head win percentage. Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Cincinnati (Pittsburgh wins tie break over Cincinnati based on best win percentage in division games).

I have no problem with that at all. It also goes against the Vagiants, who have a tough remaining schedule.

After looking into it, the Jets would NOT win in a 3-team tie-breaker between us, Bengals and Steelers under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, b/c the Steelers and Bengals are in the same division, the league will use the "division tie-breaker" first and the Bengals will most likely be eliminated because the Steelers will most likely have more division victories (b/c they won tonight against the Ravens, essentially). Then, the Steelers will beat us out b/c they won in a head-to head. Therefore, we need either the Colts or the Steelers to go 1-3 if we want a chance to be in the playoffs.

    "Three or More Clubs

Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
    Strength of victory.
    Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
    Coin toss"

EDIT: The Jets can only win the three-way tiebreaker if the Steelers lose to the Bengals AND to the Browns. In that case, the Steelers will have a worse division record than the Bengals and will be eliminated prematurely. The Jets, in this case, would have a better AFC record than the Bengals, assuming the Bengals go 9-7.

It's gonna be weird but I've gotta become a Cowboys fan for two weeks also. They can really help us out by going on a little win streak right now.

It's not that bad. The way I look at it, we win and they both lose next week, we'll be where we could have been this week. We're going to be #6 seed. I can feel it.

Indy has to lose 3 of 4, they play Hou twice but week 17 could be meaningless. Hopefully Hou loses to a team besides Indy before week 17 so they still have to play for homefield.

Pitt needs to also lose 3 of 4 and if they do it will likley mean Cincy beat them meaing Cincy would have to lose 2 of their other 3 games(Dal, phil, Bal- could be meaningless for Bal).

I am an optimist but I don't see it.

Can't talk of playoffs yet because the Jets haven't proven they are at all capable of winning out.

They just won 7-6 against a team that had lost 7 in a row, that had one of the most putrid aerial performances in recent memory. It's one thing to win 7-6 while playing great defense, its another thing when you play against a QB that couldn't get in the same area code of his recievers.

I dont see it either, especially if they go with McElroy...I expect this team to come out flat in a couple of games...Most likely the Chargers/Buffalo.

With Sanchez out there I am sure we go 1-3
